my wife made 800 last year, and paid no fed taxes...this is our only income....we have two minor kids...should we file?.. if so how should she file?

Typically no you are not required to .. btu if you earned like 10,000.00 in cash through odd jobs ... then you could claim the cash and the children and you might be entitled to a bit of a refund ..

If this wasn't from self-employment (if on a 1099-misc it's self-employment for tax purposes), you don't have to file, but if the $800 was from a job, if you file a joint return, you might be able to get a small Earned Income Credit - and if you're supporting two kids on a total of $800 a year, I'd guess that would help.

File a joint return, you'll get back any taxes withheld and may qualify for earned income tax credit.

How can a family of 4 live on $800 a year? There must be some other sources!
