I know, the typical question. But, I'm purchasing a road bike (for racing) very soon and have landed on three bikes Trek 2100, Trek 1600, Cannondale Cadd 9 and Cannondale Synapse Alloy.

Anyone have any history with these bikes. I'm leaning toward the Synapse.

Thanks!

I've raced for many years and Trek and Cannondale both make excellent bikes. However, of the 4 models you list there, the Cannondale CAAD9 is my favorite. Trek's aluminum is just nowhere near as nice as Cannondale's. C-dale has really perfected the lightweight, stiff alloy frame. The Synapse is nice, but it is designed more for sport enthusiast riding than for racing. The System6 from Cannondale is there one piece carbon for racing. The CAAD9 is light, has a great racing geometry, and can be fit out with any number of component groups to fit your needs and budget.

overall, both are good names
I would recommend almost any Trek over a Cannondale, but I only know what my cycling buddies have told me
I prefer Specialized

I've had Treks since 1982 and have had very good luck.
