This is a serious question. I want some educated Muslims to please respond. Sura 29:27 states clearly that, as far as Allah and the Qur'an are concerned, the only true prophets are those related to Isaac (Ishaq) or Jacob (Yaqoub); yet Muhammad, according to Muslim tradition, is related to Ishmael and not Isaac or Jacob. So how is muhammad considered to be a prophet? I am not trying to offend anyone. I just need to know. This is the second time I am asking this question. I received one real response the first time and it still did not answer the question.

Negative it clearly states Isaac and Jacob it does not even mention Ishmael. Was there a reason it mentions those two and not the other.

Ok so GOD states this is the line of prophets. Are you also saying that your Allah was wrong in not including Ishmael in this statement?

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with
child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael;
because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and
thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my
covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his
seed after him.
017:020 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed
him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him
exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make
him a great nation.
017:021 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall
bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

Islam claims that Allah is the same God who was revealed in the Bible. . . . then if the Bible and the Qur'an have differing views of God, then Islam's claim is false. Don't forget that Muhammad claimed in Suras 2:87, 29:46, 32:23, 5:44, 6:154, 6:155 that Allah confirmed the Torah (Taurat) and Christian Gospel (Injeel) (Sura 2:87, 5:46, 5:68, 29:46 and 43:63).

Muslims do not follow the words of the prophets of God nor the word of God but the
Qu'ran and the teachings of a false prophet...How do we know Muhammad was a false prophet? God taught us that prophets must be in agreement with the word of God and all prophets are in agreement with each other. The Qu'ran teach's contrary to the God of Abraham and to the books of Moses and does not accept the teachings of the Gospel but it claims it is in agreement with all of them. it claims Allah is the God of Abraham and is in agreement with the prophets and the Bible, Easy to prove read the words of the prophets and judge for yourself is Allah who overlooks sin in agreement with the righteous God of Abraham? Is Allah The God who required Mary to name her Son Jesus which means Salvation, Yet Allah denies Jesus is Savior is this in agreement with the word of God? Is The Qur'ans teachings in agreement with the Torah or the Gospel which it claims is Allah's words? Moses taught that Abraham said the lord would provide himself a lamb. Moses taught about the tree of Life. Isaiah taught that the Messiah would atone for sin. Jesus said I and the Father are one and no man comes to the Father but through the Son...Jesus referd to Isaiah 53 and said this must be fufilled through me. Is Allah or Muhammad or the Qu'ran in agreement with God's prophets or God's word..the answer is obviously no. Muhammad fails the test of a prophet of God and Allah is not the righteous God of Abraham.

The first line of the verse says in Arabic WAWAHUBNAA LAHU. The word LAHU means to him or for him. Surely this does not refer to Isaac and Jacob because the pronoun is singular. The him refers to Abraham. We have to read the verse in CONTEXT. We should not pick one verse and understand it without reading the verses before and after it. The Christians are doing this to their bible but Muslims must never do this to the Qur'an. Learning Arabic even basic may also help to get a grasp of the message of the Qur'an in its original language. Since Ishmael is a progeny of Abraham it is therefore a foregone conclusion that he is a prophet and all his progeny including prophet Muhammad also are. The verse you qouted does not state it clearly but there are many other verses in the Qur'an supporting this. Some verses in the qur'an are explained by other verses and some support each other. Do you believe that Prophet Ishmael is a prophet, right? Why? Because the Qur'an says so. If the prophethood is only for Isaac and Jacob's lineage, why the qur'an called Ishmael a prohet? READ THE VERSE AGAIN AND COMPARE IT SOME VERSES IN THE QUR'AN and soon you will understand it clearly.

No Brother, Prophet-hood was not restricted there, You mIsunderstod it:
"27 And We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We established the prophethood and the Scripture among his seed, and We gave him his reward in the world, and lo! in the Hereafter he verily is among the righteous. " 29. al-`Ankabut: The Spider/ Verse 27

This means Prophethood was established among his seed, but not really restricted.. you can see we recognize Jesus PBUH as a prophet while he's not from that seed... No contradiction there.

Muslims Believes that Muhammad have certain relativity to Ibrahim, as his grandson. Ibrahim was the Father of Ismail, Isaac and Jacob.. He's a grandfather to the last 2.

U are using text from the Bible as your reference, we Muslims do NOT make any reference from the Bible pertaining to Islamic matters. As U mentioned surah 29:27 there is no such statement made in the Quran. As such, your fact is obsolete and misleading. In Alquran it stated that Prophet Adam a.s. is the father of mankind and was the 1st Prophet and Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. was the LAST Prophet. There is no other Prophet after Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. Among all the Prophets it also include Prophets Nuh, Musa, Ya'acob, Isyak, Ibrahim, Ismail,Isa, Ayub, and many others. All of them are Prophets in Islam.

It doesn't say those related to Isaac or Jacob, it states Abraham's offspring:

27. And We bestowed on him [Ibrâhim (Abraham)], Ishâque (Isaac) and Ya'qûb (Jacob), and ordained among his offspring Prophethood and the Book [i.e. the Taurât (Torah) (to Mûsa Moses), the Injeel (Gospel) (to 'Iesa Jesus), the Qur'ân (to Muhammad SAW), all from the offspring of Ibrâhim (Abraham)], and We granted him his reward in this world, and verily, in the Hereafter he is indeed among the righteous.

This surah starts talking about Abraham from verse 16, and the verse 27 says

"And We bestowed 'UPON HIM' Isaac and Jacob, and We established the Prophethood and the Scripture among 'HIS' seed, and We gave him a reward in this world, and indeed in the Hereafter he is among the righteous."

You dont get chosen to be prophet because your from the family of prophets you get chosen because Allah sees who has the quality the characteristics the pureness kindness honesty to be one and the reason prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has been chosen was because he was a great person even before he was a prophet and allah decides who he chooses to be the prophet or not, and all the prophet had good heart one of the main things. So maybe you should check the verse again or maybe find yourself a proper translated quran, or even if it is then perhaps it means something else and you need to go see a Alim they are people who know what the quran means.

And you christain who are making racist comment should know that some people from your own religion turn to athiest because they think your religion is fake and a pope has burnt him self (suicide) because he so ashamed of christians so watch your toungue and take a look at your own religion before you say something about us.
And if i wanted to i could of said something racist like you aswell but my religion and it was said by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself that you should learn about other religion as much as you can and respect it as much as you can so that you make no mistake by accidently disrespecting them.
I dont see anything in your religion that says to respect other religion So shut the **** up.

asalam alaikum wr wb....Dr br in Islam. You are Obligated to live close enough to a masjid to at least attend Friday prayer, if AT ALL possible. U should make the istigharah prayer about marriage. If u honestly have no sexual desire then it is not obligatory for you to marry. It is difficult I know to find a wife here in the west. That is part of the reason i looked overseas to find a sister. Its Not hard br.....takes some time and effort but it is very do-able Insha'Allah. salaams

And We gave (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob, and ordained among his progeny Prophethood and Revelation, and We granted him his reward in this life; and he was in the Hereafter (of the company) of the Righteous

Progeny ALSO includes ishmael!

And We granted him Ishaq and Yaqoub, and caused the t prophethood and the book to remain in his seed, and We gave him his reward in this world, and in the hereafter he will most surely be among the good.

Qur'an 29:27.

"His seed" and "Granted him" was reffering to Abraham. Ishmael was the son of Abraham. So, yeah. Ishmael was born later, so in this verse it does not mention him. Though that doesn't mean Ishamael was never born at all.

It does not mention doesn't mean it does not mention in other verses. Your argument is invalid. Stop using the Chewbacca defence damnit.

Have you ever tried to read the Qur'an fully in context?

Edit: He simply did not mention because there's no Ishmael in this part yet.Ishmael was born LATER.

We must be honest...
That verse does not mention that ONLY the person in the geneology of Isaac, therefore you can not renounce Mohammad from being a prophet, even if he is only a self-claimed one.
