Ontrack Easy Recovery is the software you need. Its really powerful recovery tool and I highly recommend it.
No guarantees though as I've never used it for format recovery but I'd give it a shot.

Ok It is possible just very hard and unlikely to work.
1st thing STOP what you are doing installing anything could/ve
already written over this file. you need to get something that will search and recover the lost file. some of the above mentioned programs would do the job.
2nd run a scan hope that the file hasn't been overwritten and recover it.
Please note that this is very unlikely to work as not many programs are designed to recover it. Good Luck
By the Way if you want it really badly professional recovering could do the job but yes the cost is usually quite steep.

without the proper software it is impossible to restore data from a formated hard drive. Think of your hard drive as a large chalkboard, when you write things to the hard drive it makes a list of the items into a table of contents, when you delete the item it erases the entry from the table of contents, when you formated the hard drive you erased the entire chalkboard. Some residual information may still be accessible from the hard drive but you will need special tools (software) to recover it.
The link is from the first result from a search for "format recovery", I have never used the program so I can not vouch how it will work.

yes..you can restore your data 100% from any formatted/courrupted harddrive unless cluster overwritten. suppose u have 3 partitions, c,d and e. and u format ur entire drive. if u dont reload any operating system on formatted drive u can restore ur data 100%.but if u reload any operating system(windows) on "C" drive then there are less chances to recover all data from drive "C" (depend upon the area has been overwritten by new window installation) BUT dont worry still u can recover 100% data from other drives like "D' and "E" because they are untouched. there are many programs in which u can recover ur data. like get data back, recover my files, stellar phoenix.. u can download ur data recovery software from www.fullupdates.com u just need to submit ur request. its free...if u need more help u can email me at chinkaara@gmail.com

Dude...it is almost impossible. and if you have installed anything over that hard drive, it really essentially IS impossible at this point.
Professional file recovery is VERY expensive, and can run into thousands of dollars. Unless youre the ceo of some big company and just clicked delete on something you didnt mean to, you should just forget the file.

The whole idea to format a drive is the erase everything on it.
Unless you did a "quick format", there's nothing to recover.

As someone said its virtually impossible to recover data from a drive that has been formated.
Seagate recently released a program that they claim can, you can find more information here:
