I'm not talking in a "shove-it-down-your-throat" type of standing up. I'm talking about bashing, and others defending themselves respectfully and trying to help. How do you feel about those who try to do good even though some think that because of a label they've been given or happen to fall under, they are evil no matter what they do?

I don't care for labels. If someone thinks someone else is evil because of some label or something, then that is their problem, not the person with the label's problem, especially if said person tries to do good. And it helps show the discriminator/labeler wrong, too. I think that is a very good thing.

On the whole, I have more respect for people who are consistent with their own beliefs, than those who compromise or who are inconsistent.

That's not a simple tidy answer, as it would leave me respecting suicide bombers and child sacrificers, if they were sincere. So somewhere there is a cross-over line where a belief is unacceptable, even if it is sincere and consistent.

The extremes of violence are relatively easy to decide on, but other issues are not so clear...
Blood transfusions and medical treatment for children, for example? (Jehovah's Witnesses and Christian Scientists, repectively, where cases have gone to law.)

People who stand up for their beliefs are either insecure and need others to agree (very badly) or they are sincere. It's hard to judge just by their enthusiasm.

Their actions away from the spotlight are what count the most. Like it or not, you always act out your beliefs when no one is looking, but your actions don't necessarily match what you say you believe.

The world is full of persons who stand up for their beliefs. Unfortunately, many never take much time to understand what they are believing, or their minds are closed to the truth.

The are fanatics. A fanatic is a person who, having forgotten their original aim, redoubles their efforts.

I think everyone should stop thinking and speaking up for their beliefs. They should believe only in me and do exactly what I tell them to. Oh wait, that's not right!

People should have their own mind and feel safe to speak freely of their beliefs. How can we grow as a people if we don't get together and talk?

I admire people that continue to try when they really know that they are doing something good and from a place of love...

But some people... man...

Some people do things that *look* like good things - but in reality they are settling a vendetta... trying for superiority... they have believed their own lies out of laziness and never stopped to question themselves.

I believe in standing up for my faith, but I don't bash, I explain my Religion and point out out where the mistake is and try to help them to understand

It depends on what they are doing. If it's like, "Save the panda from extinction!" or whatever, then I think it's good those people are trying to make the world a better place.
If it's somthing stupid like, "Equal rights for amphibians! Fish are people too!"... well, that's just... no.
