I have the saaame problem! Heres a couple ideas, after you wash your hair, brush it with your head upside down, and if you want you can blow dry it upside down as well.
If you are doing an up-do, you can back comb it a bit to create volume. ...theres not a whole lot else you can do about it. Use volumizing conditioner.

Volumizing shampoos and conditioners are good, but they won't give you the lift you want.

You need a post-washing volumizing gel or mousse and you must blow dry to get that essential lift. Apply the gel or mousse to the roots of your hair, then comb it through to the tips. Blow dry and comb constantly in the opposite direction of the hair-drier's air stream to get the desired results.

For an inexpensive gel, I'd recommend the Garnier Fructis XXL volumizing styling gel. I've had good results with it.

Is your hair all one length? If so, ask a hairdresser for an elevated hair cut to help. Another possibility is to have a body perm. A body perm uses larger rods (usually pink and gray, sometimes white) to reform the hair into a very soft wave. When blown dry, it gives a lot of lift to flat hair. My last suggestion is to use a setting lotion (and these go by a lot of different names) while your hair is wet, then as you blow your hair dry, lift your hair up and dry the hair near the scalp. Then go on and blow the rest of your hair into the style you want.

first you need to blowdry your hair upside down and use a mousse too, dont use that much conditioner because that will make it even flatter, use hairspray while your head is upside down too and also when you get a haircut , dont let them put to many layers in it but you need some layers for volume , get a good hair cut , i am a stylist , and the right cut makes a big difference !

buy those soft curlers and sleep in them. it is soooo easy and you save so much time in the morning. you just take them out and only brush the top of your hair otherwise you brush right through the curls. then use hairspray, not mousse. ive found that a great brand of hairspray is matrix hairspray. and for looser, messier curls, you separate each curl in two. it is a more casual, less shirley temple look.
then for waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......
and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.

and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know about the cut i might have to see the shape of your face, sry....
you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....
as for hairbands, very cute and in!!! definitely!!!
u could wear your hair half-up, leaving your bangs down.....

hope i helped!!! good luck!!!

use wax hairspray..i think its by sexy hair...i bought it at master cuts, its in a bright orange can with a purple cap.
it costs about $18.95 or so.
pull up your hair in your fingers and spray it on [not in the roots] and make it look messy.
if you take showers in the morning blow dry your hair upside down.
another option get a different hair cut...shorter but still cute.
good luckk :]]

first get it cut with the "chunker" scissors...(texturizing)
they look like this
l-l_l-l_l-l_l-l_l-l_...well kind..lol....
this cuts small lil stubbles that lift the surrounding hairs....
then apply a volumizing (sp?) product when wet..there are LOTS to choose from but the key is to get it to the roots and NOT on the ends of your hair or it will weigh it down
THEN blow-dry your hair upsidedown while rubbing circles on your scalp...again heating the product on your roots...good luck...if all else fails...perm it...lol

flashback into the 80's and use mousse! then flip your hair everywhere so it would look like a bush.
