The latest news from Afghanistan is that of US marines going on a shooting rampage killing women and children after being attacked by a suicide bomber. Only one US marine was injured in the attack! I never hear of the British, the Canadians, or the Dutch committing any atrocities, yet the US Marines are becoming infamous! Remember Kilo company, Haditha, and Ishaqi?
I remember the film "Full Metal Jacket" by Stanley Kubrick. Maybe their "born to kill" mentality isn't suited to the job of protecting civilians!

Hey, Patches! You seem like a reasonable fellow. If you ever find yourself in a situation where your buddies are pointing their guns threateningly at unarmed children, women, or even men, DO SOMETHING!! Even if it means standing in front of these people and pointing ur gun at your fellow Marines!

Wow! I received hate mail! He sounds just like the jihadists I have pissed off. Guess their devotion to fellow marine and to the corps is on par with the jihadists devotion to Allah. Hope it doesn't cloud their better judgement.

We are in the front lines for a very long time, we dont take breaks and when we have seen our brothers killed in front of us: it makes it a little difficult to distinguish the good guys from the bad.

Marines are not born to kill, they are trained to fight and historically have been sent in "first to fight" and then have the Army function as the occupying force. Both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom have heavily depended on the Marine Corps and the sacrifices of the young (18-22) Marines. They get little sleep, live in spartan conditions, sometimes only have MRE's to eat and have volunteered to give up four years with their families and education, etc. in order to SERVE. Almost all are doing two tours and some have done three or more. In contrast with the skewed image you have gotten from the press and movies, each Marine is highly disciplined in order endure their conditions, never complain and still get the job done. Perhaps Sami Iv and you need to be drafted and find out the real story.

Ah, but the Germans have been posing, nude next to dead people in Afganistan, the dozen Dutch are hiding in their bunkers and the British have make peace treaties with the Taliban. The locals didn't complain about the Taliban suicide bomber not wearing uniforms, fighting in civilian areas or driving a marked vehical so if they are bashing the U.S. while not bothering with the Taliban, the locals are probably Taliban themselves and therefore fair targets.

You obviously don't know your tail from a hole in the ground, chief. Get off the Marines. "Full Metal Jacket"???? If you think that's what the Marines are about, then I guess you think "No Time for Sergeants" with Andy Griffith is what the USAF is all about. Hey, I'll tell you what. Watch some re-runs of Gomer Pyle, USMC. That's just as accurate a portrayal of the Marines as Kubrick's film.

I joined the military because I loved each and each of the options. i had to leap out of planes and that i did. i like the concept that if i want to be complicated i will flow to the colleges they offer and attempt for ranger or SF or inspite of at the same time as i think like it. I also like the undeniable truth that i'm stationed foreign places (Germany) and it really is extremely common to stay the following if i would like. The Re-enlistment bonus I were given at the same time as i replaced into deployed replaced into surprising. In Iraq I traveled plenty and said truly some the Marine FOB's and they stay plenty rougher than the military yet i imagine this brought with reference to the Marines to bond a touch extra acceptable than the military gadgets that I said. there replaced into truly some bickering between our adult adult males obtainable which drove me loopy. the military has a larger help ingredient so the military FOB's were a lot extra tender and the foodstuff replaced right into a lot extra acceptable. As for the remark about Marines being smarter and such. That adult adult males a DEP. He hasn't even experienced the Marines yet. maximum service-individuals often are smarter than they're credited for...yet there are undesirable apples in both branch. thanks on your activity in serving your us of a.

Oh, you must read Farsi huh. Full Metal Jacket LOL. Why don't you join up with the Islamic terrorists and check it out for yourself; I don't think that you would make it as a Marine or even an USAF as a 3N343 but maybe because of your ability to read Farsi you could do PR in Iran or Syria.
In Vietnam the mothers of the South Vietnamese would push their little kids out into the road to be run over by the trucks carrying supplies. It was a double shot for them because they got money from the US for the kid and the rest of them would jump up on the trucks and start tossing shi* off. You haven't got a clue what kind of animals people outside of the US are.

Marines are trained to be aggressive, just as they should be. They act according to threats and perceived threats, at times they might make mistakes, such is war. I would have them no other way. You make them out to be mass murderers, and that is so wrong it is not worth comment. Go take a nap.

In a situation of terror good men would have a hard time keeping it cool. Fear is a powerful thing. Who is the enemy? Friend by day and your enemy at night. Some days it could be different. It is kill or be killed mentality, wrong as it is. A dead soldier can not complete his mission.

are you stupid!? the Iraqis have their own kids strapped with bombs and killing people everyday. don't you read that in the paper also. shoot or be shot or blown up. these people put their lives on the line everyday for the American people, by the way, i hope you are not American because that is shameful what you are implying. i imagine if your stupid @ss was over there and you were being shot at or having bombs explode around you constantly, you would shoot them too. even these women and kids who are strapped with high explosives. unless you have a death wish.
