I am having a muscle and tendon repared in my shoulder on the 4th of May. Four weeks after i'm going on vacation. It will be a 10 to 12 hour ride in a car. My question is, Do you think 4 week is to soon and will the ride be uncomfortable by then? Once there it will be a week of relaxation. Thanks for your help.

Take your pain meds. Sitting still is good and doesn't hurt to much. Make sure someone is with you all the time to help you and change your ice or cold water packs. Follow the doctors instructions to the letter!

I don't think it's too much time. I had major surgery on my right should after a complete separation. They had to shave my collarbone, re-attach my shoulder blade and should joint, and keep it still for 3 weeks. After that, I took a one week drive up the coast before starting physical therapy. My shoulder is almost like it was before I messed it up.

My brother had this done, and he couldn't sleep in a bed for almost 2 months, much less ride in a car for 12 hours. Take pain meds with you.

PS Wife had shoulder surgery a few months ago. She's kicking herself for not having it done a lot sooner.
