HI. Does anyone have a suggestion on what types of photo scanners are out on the market these days that will produce a really nice quality "photo" when printed, but at a moderate price?? I would like the scanner to be able to scan slides, 35 mm negatives, medium negatives, large format negatives.

Anything Out There That Will Scan "Large Format" Will Be VERY Expensive. If You Can Live With Just Medium Format Scans, There Are A Few "Reasonably" Priced Models. If You MUST Scan Large Format I Would Suggest You Get Some Advice From Someplace That Uses Them BEFORE Bying One Or Try "Rigging" A "Light Box" For A Flatbed Scanner Check The Internet For Suggestions. Good-Luck!

I 've also been searching for scanners. After reading reviews for weeks on different brands and models, I think the Canon canoscan 9950f is the best choice for a reasonable price of under $400. There are models under $200, but I haven't found any with good enough reviews across the board to buy.
If you're like me and have boxes full of slides and photos that you cherish and want to copy to CD with excellent quality, spend the extra $150-$200 now, or you may be sorry later. Search the specs. and reviews on the 9950f, then compare with others. I have Other Canon products, and haven't been disappointed yet. Happy hunting.

Good for you! keep on truckin' 1.Make sure the scanner is installed on your laptop 2. make sure you have a programme for scanning and editing picutres like roxio or photoshop. (don't be shy, we're all learning, ask the person you bought the thing from) All scanners are different but the basics are lay it face down on the glass, close the lid (still with me?) open the scanning program. Click on transfer photo (or some other command that means the same thing) then preview. If you've done it right a picture of whats on your scanner should show. There should be a selecting tool somewhere, an arrow or a box, take your time, look for it. Click and drag the corner dots, it will resize the selection proportionately until it covers only the picture you want scanned. If you miss out this step you will get your picture in the corner with a lot of blank space surrounding it. Might take a couple of tries, but when you get it you're like, whose da man???? Now when you've got the selection over exactly where you want scanned (yes, you don't have to include uncle Bob's pot belly in the picture!) click scan. It should save the picture to My pictures. If you want to edit the pictures, you can continue witht the program, otherwise minimise it and just open my pictures. right click the scanned picture icon - go to open with - then to windows picture and fax viewer. Click save (the floppy disc icon) and save it as a jpeg image (to make it easy to email and print) and save it in a place you will be able to find it like the desktop. Now you're hot! You can send it as an attachment, right click it and save it as a desk top background. I know it sounds like a lot, but its like, no pain, no gain. Good luck. for further instructions, go to epsom website. Go to google, type epson in the box. Have fun

Many modern scanners have these options. You would be best to go to a computer store and tell them what you want to do. Then they can show you your options.Don't forget, you will still need a good quality photo printer to get the results.
