The problem for most athletes is they don't stretch properly. Flexibility depends on proper stretching techniques.
Order ''Stretching'' by Bob Anderson at the bookstore. It tells you how to stretch and explains the mechanisms involved in creating flexibility. I've used it in my work for many years and it also povides specific stretches for every sport. No athlete should be without it. Improper stretching actually decreases Range of Motion. Learn to do it correctly and you will regain your flexability.
Good luck!

Stretching is a great way to start, but also incorporating pilates and yoga into your workout is a great way to gain that flexibility back. I've been taking pilates (on the mat) for about 2 months now, once a week, and have seen a noticeable difference in my flexibility. Give it a try!

Stretch every day, twice a day. Thats what I do. It seems that if you stretch first thing in the morning, you regain flexability very quickly. Also, streching at night helps you fall asleep better, too! so thats a plus.
I've included some good links that have good stretch routines. Hope I've helped!
