When used moderately, alcohol can indeed be a source of pleasure.
The Bible acknowledges that wine can make the heart merry or can enhance the taste of a meal. (Ecclesiastes 9:7)
When misused, however alcohol creates serious problems.
As the Bible says: “Wine is a ridiculer, intoxicating liquor is boisterous, and everyone going astray by it is not wise.
There is no reason a Christian cant enjoy a drink but they should not be getting drunk.

There are some protestant religious groups that were tied to the temperance movement and at least for a time forbade drinking alcohol (like the presbyterian church for example). Most have repealed those teachings and now encourage moderation instead. To be honest, it is very difficult to claim to be the followers of Christ and forbid drinking as sinful when Jesus drank wine frequently, specifically instructed his apostles to "Keep doing this in remembrance of me" (eating bread and drinking wine) and his first miracle was to turn water to wine.

"Take Alcohol?"
Is that anything like using breath mints? lol
Truly, we have a tradition that says that we ought not to. But that's not Biblical, is it?
Now look at all those people that swear that it's automatic sin if you do!
We are promised to drink wine with Jesus in heaven. Will it be a sin? Maybe those Chrisitans who think it's automatic sin will correct their Lord? I know I wouldn't dare!

If alcohol is a problem for you don't drink. But the Bible does not forbid the use of alcoholic beverages. It does forbid untoward conduct.

Because, alcohol changes your body and very many people change into violent people when they are drinking.
Also, as others have mentioned, Jesus DID make water into wine back in the Bible days, but it was un-fermented wine (i.e. it did not make you drunk) and was the equivalent of modern-day grape juice.

Alcohol itself isn't a sin. As others have pointed out, jesus himself made water into wine. The only sin is going overboard and getting drunk, commonly known as gluttony.
