Children up to the age of accountability cannot make up there own mind about salvation, so in God's mercy if a baby or child dies- pre-birth and after birth automatically goes to heaven. When that child gets to the age of accountability every one of us is responsible for accepting Christ for our salvation. My 2 children accepted Christ to be their Savior in kindergarten, If baby baptism saves the babies then God really is not merciful because what if a baby dies before baptism? Praise GOd for his grace and mercy

It is necessary for anyone who has reached the age of accountability to be saved. That age is not necesarily the same for everyone though.

salvation is here when we get here.
until a child reaches the age of accountability their salvation is given to them by the grace of God. We are born into sin
we are not born a sin. The age of accountability comes when you can see the difference in right and wrong and make a choice.

Its hard to anser this without knowing what you think being "saved " is. Children should not be baptised if thats what you mean. They are not capable of making the choice to dedicate themselves to God.

Death is the penalty for sin, and one without sin is NOT liable to die.
Little children and babies die.
That should tell you everything you need to know.
Due to the nature of sin and how it affects mankind, EVERYBODY needs to be saved (baptized) ... and the QUICKER, the BETTER!

No one does. Indoctrinating them into your faith is child abuse.
