i actually prefer crunches rather than sit-ups.
doing 20 minutes of crunches at night before you go to bed while watching t.v will get your stomach flatter in 2 months.

As much as you would train any other muscle - when you do situps/crunches etc you are working the abdominal muscle group you are NOT burning fat contrary to popular belief. This muscle group needs rest just like any other so do situps at the end of your workout out 3-4 times a week (rest days in between working them).

You should to situps daily, remaining consistent with stomach exercises is the key to getting a toner and flatter stomach. You have to stick with it.
