Tape Al Gore's mouth shut. Keep the greenhouse gas inside.
Extinguish the sun. This will lead to global cooling.
THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING! THERE IS GLOBAL WARMING ON MARS, THE POLAR ICE CAPS ARE MELTING. GLOBAL WARMING IS A PRODUCT OF HIGHER SOLAR RADIATION!

If you are thinking of things that you can do around the home, then unfortunately there's not a lot. Realistically, if one household becomes energy efficient, then it won't stop global warming, and the difference would be miniscule in comparison to the rest of the greenhouse gas emissions. All you can do locally is lead by example, and know that you are doing everything that you can possibly do to become carbon neutral. Some of these thing include:
1. Switching to green energy, such as solar, wind or hydro. Most energy providers now have this option.
2. Getting a hybrid or diesel fuelled car (preferably hybrid). Hydrogen fuelled cars are well on the way to becoming commercial, but that is still 20 years away. Honda has brought out a great hydrogen fuelled car with no emissions, though it is retailing at 1 million dollars unti they can find a cheaper way to produce the technology.
3. Plant trees, and participate in tree planting campaigns. Many councils won't allow you to plant trees in their land, so even planting trees in your backyard is beneficial. 200 children aged 10-14 (of which I was a part of) tried to organise an international tree planting week, though we found that this was impossible because of the varying climates around the world.
4. This may not be an option in your respective country, but in Australia there is a program called Greenfleet which, for $40, offers to plant trees and therefore offset your car's greenhouse emissions for a year. This solves the problem of councils not allowing people to plant trees around the place, and requires no effort on your part.
5. Educate others about the importance about global warming. The media has finally latched on to the concept of climate change, and although the suggestion was ridiculed 20 years ago, it is now seen as a real threat to humanity. People need to be told how they can contribute, and need to know that they're actions may be affecting the earth.
6. Petition your local government to be more proactive. Challenge them to do more, and hope that they respond.
I hope that this helps!

Sorry, but nothing. It's part of the cycle of nature. Maybe humans have contributed minutely, but look at history, and you'll see this same weather pattern has happened before. What's happening is we are being fooled into thinking it's our fault because everyone wants to stop the American machine.
Mars is also going through a global warming. Are you going to tell me we caused that too? I do believe, however, in the old reduce, reuse, recycle. Of course we need to be good stewards of our resources, but I don't believe we should take it to the extreme. Since carbon dioxide was "voted" on as being a pollutant, I guess the air humans have exhaled over millions of years has caused this global warming. Puh-lease.

Reduce the use of gasoline and use alternative fuels in cars
Plant more trees
reduce our use of energy
Recycle where possible
PRAY to our faith
Think Possitive
Although global warmming is unstoppable, it could be slowed down to a gradual warming and we should do the most we can to make this world livable for our grand children

1)Ditch oil/gas - go hydrogen/solar.
2)Cut out coal/liquid coal - replace w/natural gas/solar/wind.
3)Reduce - use of electricity
a)by installing energy star rated appliances
and replacing conventional drum water heaters
with efficient instant tankless water heaters.
4)Reuse - bags, containers, & wares instead of wasting
consumable things like paper plates, plastic cups,
etc.
5)Recycle - paper goods (especially all the wasted copy
paper thrown away daily by state offices! 2
full garbage bags a day for just one welfare
office!*), metals, plastics.
There's the main five, I'd better stop now, it's already looking like some kind of book report. But recycling and solar and wind power is just so sensible, it should be manditory and our government should provide the means for us to do so.

Simply forget about it. It will go away of it's own accord. It's a paranoid delusion caused by an insidious brain pollution called the Chicken Little Syndrome and is not anything man can stop, change or 'fix' anyway. Nature is not broken.
It's April, 30 degrees, and snowing in Ohio. WHAT 'global warming'???

global warming i dont think can be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, this requires global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,
At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.
these are Al gores sites

POSITIVE ACTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use
here are a 100 more ways
