radio shack has answers (electical)
Machines ( an engineer)
as for parts depends on the machine you want to build
very complicated question and no room to write it all
start with basic motors from radio shack they have kits to teach the basic skills for small scale prodjects
as for large scale if you can aford it you will need engineer and you ideas for the type of machine you want to create
since i dont have your idea of a kind of machine
ill start with a robot arm that will move you need two pieces of straight steel, a hinge and screw them together so that it will swing like a door, then connect a acuator to it with a 12volt supply and a switch it will move the arm , when you hit the switch. well this could get really long so just start with radio shack and youll be on your way

Jeesh! That sure is a wide question. That's like asking "Why Is A Bug?"
Go through all your Mom & Dad's junk drawers and separate everything out into small, medium and large items. Grab up crap from the garage. Steal 2 or 3 mirrors from the bathroom. Get Dad's cutting tools, duct tape, super glue, cardboard and anything you find when you dumpster dive.
But first, you better have a plan......What simple machine can I come up with, with all the junk I have....that could possibly metamorphosize into something bigger and better.
Use your imagination, junk and batteries, but steer clear of chemistry, unless you have a large insurance policy on your house.
Come on MacGiver........you CAN do it!

a telescope u need a tube and 2 lenses (concave and convex), a pc.. lol unless u got some good money ur not gettin all the parts by themselves. and with simple machines i have no idea what ur asking for um maybe look at the designs of ancient or semi-ancient inventors (archemedies, and davinchi) their designs were simple and give a really good understanding of mechanics (if u had an idea of what u wanted to make it would help!)

In your Internet browser window enter "Rube Goldberg".
There you will find many examples of mechanical devices working as interesting machines to do common tasks.

Duct tape and a sharpie marker. Maybe dental floss too. Yes... those are certainly the core elements of every machine, I'm sure...

you are probably very young so first I will ask the others to avoid the usual smart alike answers !!! first decide what you want t make and then ask your parents if it seems reasonable to make it. then you can probably find all the information to make it on the Internet. /
