I just read a question about ribs. I saw two answers, one right above the other, and the combination of the two made it rather funny:
Answer one: Believe it or not many people thought men had one fewer ribs than women for a long long time.
Answer two: it is a medical fact that men do, however, have one less rib than women do. some say it's a medical anomalie, others say that it's because God created woman (eve) with one of adam's ribs.
Can you do me a favor, and simply count your ribs? How many do you have? Please also post your gender...

I'm going to ignore the "men and women only" bit.
While the majority of people have 24 ribs (12 pairs), around 5 per cent of people have only 22 (11 pairs) - this is more common in Down's syndrome.
As well, some people have 26 ribs (13 pairs), and there are even cases of 28 (14 pairs).
The sex distribution for the extra or lacking pairs, though, is equal for males and females.

Sorry dude but I have not seen my ribs in years. I can tell you though from working in a radiology office for many years, that men and women have the exact same number of ribs, 24.

Well I always thought that women had less ribs than blokes becus they have 2 give birth and it allows them 2 have more room to well ya no, squeeze and all that. As wiv havin' more ribs pehaps the flexing off the stomach muscles might be a little more difficult. Abit like why women have a more rounded shape to there booties. I also thought this was becus they have a wider pair of hip's, agen 4 the whole givin' birth fing. just wat I fort, I cud be wrong like.

Female here.
I had a chest x-ray when I was 12. Yay! Coincidentally enough, I had 12 ribs on each side. All together, that's 12 cubed so I will probably remember that for the rest of my life.

I dont know...i have some like...mini-ribs that dont quite connect together..so im not sure whether to count them or not.
