Start by looking at the school where you wish to attend the professional phase of the program. Find out what their pre-requisite courses are and choose your major based on that. Ideally, choosing a major that encompasses all those classes would be ideal. Many schools even offer a "pre-physical therapy" or "applied health sciences" major...both which are meant to guide you toward your career path, but the BS in these majors doesn't really hold any meaning unless you actually get into PT school.
Many people choose biology, psychology, etc. In the long run, it really doesn't matter what your major is...as long as you've met the prerequisites for the program to which you wish to apply.
Go to www.apta.org to obtain a list of accredited PT programs which will provide you with a link to that program.
Best wishes.

Most of the pre req classes for PT are science classes. Therefore, it is best for you to major in Biology or chemistry. That way you can get alot of the pre requisite classes out of the way. Most physical therapy programs, require you to have a year of Anatomy, physiology, Chemistry(general and organic), One year of calculus, and physics. Good luck.
