Go to another dentist and get a second opinion.

I would consider a second opinion on this. Also with the other two kids be sure the dentist has applied sealant on their teeth so they don't get any more cavities. In this day and age where sealants are readily available cavities should not be a problem for young kids. As for your son get the second opinion and then have the dentist discuss ALL options available for filling in the holes with BOTH of you as well as the total cost for each type of treatment.

That's the same crap a dentist told me 20 years ago. I still have all my molars and they are fine and don't give me any trouble at all. The dentist just wants to make more money off you. Once the teeth are gone, then you will have to buy partials to keep the others from shifting. Sounds like a shifty scam to get more money out of you to me.

Let your boy's teeth stay the way they are. Just get the one's filled or fixed.

this may or may not be a possibility but since i cant actually see his teeth this is just my suggestion, but i would ask about having posts and cores put in those teeth that are bad, and then having permanent crowns put on. It sounds like you will either have to do that or like everyone else said, get a partial, but its always better to keep your natural teeth.
if money is tight you can always go to the local dental school, prices are usually fifty percent cheaper, or you can apply for a carecredit card.

good luck!

Taking out the natural teeth is supposed to be last resort because nothing will be as good as the orginal teeth.....Go to another dentist and get another opinion.

I would get a second opinion. I would also get any info on this dentist from the American Dental Assoc. and the state med ical and/or dental board. I f it turns out that he was being disingenuous, I would complain to those agencies and the BBB.

true....it seems to be genetic to some degree....in my opinion.

As I see it, he really has no choice. I assume the dentist is giving him, your son, his best opinion and advice.
Sometimes, it is good to get a second opinion.
