Anyone ever been stationed there? Is it nice? Is this a good base for AM's to go to? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I think we had a choice to go there before our current command. I think the cost of houses is very high there so you may want to check out apartment costs before you move also if you have a choice still about these orders. Other than that, it's Maine it has to be good. Anything is more interesting than Norfolk, VA. You have the rest of your life for Norfolk, Maine sounds pretty nice. Go to www.forrent.com to see what costs are like there. Good luck.

Yes I have-twice actually, in the late 80's and the early 90's. Wasn't a bad duty station then, but I don't know if I'd recommend it now. Brunswick used to be a nice small town, but now it's like a small city. Housing is way too expensive, and the traffic is terrible-more traffic now in winter than there used to be in summer. Plus, the base will be shutting down in a few years, so you'd probably be involved in that. If you don't mind that though, and you get away from Brunswick (except for when you're on duty, of course) Maine can be a great place to live. Especially if you like water and/or winter sports.

Very nice - especially in the summer - not so nice in the winter.
It's located just up the road a piece from Colby College and within a half hour of Portland, the Maine Mall, and all kinds of shopping centers.
