Because they are zealots. They are absolutely convinced (in their arrogance) that they know the Truth. Everyone else is wrong. They see the world in simplistic, black and white terms. There are the Righteous (those of their faith), and the wicked (those who refuse to accept the Truth that was so obvious to them).

They accept their religion so wholly, they squeeze out every last drop of skepticism, that they are unable to stop themselves from becoming judges. They KNOW what is True and Good. They see anyone who disagrees as False and Evil.

Those with some shred of decency try to convert others so that they will be "saved".

Many just want their religious view written into law and would be perfectly happy making sure that no one of any other faith weilds any kind of authority what so ever. (think of all the polls showing how reluctant most Americans are to vote for a non-christian!) Failing that, many religious people satisfy themselves by GLEEFULLY telling non-believers that they are going to burn in Hell forever!

There are victims of brainwashing in every religion. They are so convinced that their way is the RIGHT way, they want to try to save the world. I don't think they are not respecting your belief, i think they are trying to convince you too. If you helped saved somebody, wouldn't that make you feel good? The problem is, they forget, the world is sooo big and full of theories, religions and opinions. Someone could walk up to them and change their mind about what ever they were believe. What happens to all the LOST souls they brought to their former religon? We are all doomed, by a fate far worse than religion......It's called politics!

Sorry..... i'm a Muslim, so i want to set the checklist quickly right here. Muslims do no longer see Christians and Jews as infidels, the Qur'an tells us needless to say that the two are human beings of the e book additionally and that we ought to continuously understand the revelations until eventually now the Qur'an. All their prophets are our prophets too. And to respond to your question, i understand each ones suitable to have self belief what she or he needs; even if if a individual choses to no longer have self belief in something this is all good with me. Why would i no longer gain this? it would be astonishing however if greater human beings would do the comparable subject. Thank God there are multiple astonishing respectful human beings right here from all nominations yet some....... ah they do no longer settle for that every person is distinctive and picture distinctive. they're too rigid and would't think of exterior the container. A pity, yet no longer something i will replace approximately it. I merely shrug my shoulders if a 'Christian' tells me back that i will burn in hell for no longer accepting Christ as my saviour. I merely answer now: "nicely, we are going to see who become suitable after dying. possibly you're, possibly i'm, who knows, even the atheists would have it suitable!" Peace, Tiffy

Some of them mean well, I'm sure--they perceive their way as the right one & want to share. Others can't abide differences of opinion (afraid of being wrong, maybe?) and want to make everyone fall into line--their line being of course the only right one.
Either way, I find it annoying at the very least that anyone would assume I am not happy in my own faith. I have learned the best way of dealing with it for me, at least. Ignore it when you can, and cut off the spiel as soon as you can, even if it means literally walking away. For example:
When I was in college, I was waiting for the bus to come & someone approached me as I was sitting at the stop. He had one of those little books. "Would you mind if I read this with you?" "Yes I would." I absolutely loved the look on his face. Guess no one had ever told him no before. I then told him I was happy with my own faith and had no intention of changing. He asked which one, and to this day I wish I had said Wiccan--his jaw would have cracked on the sidewalk!! But I told him Catholic, and he pondered for a minute, then told me that was all right too. Thanks so much for approving something that you have no say in.

Obviously it depends on how the person is supposedly "pushing" their beliefs....Some people consider merely the mention of God as "pushing" it on them.
The reason people talk about their religion or beliefs is that they believe them to be true.
If you had a cure for say the common cold...wouldn't you want people to know about it? Well these people believe they have the way to eternal life in heaven....and they want you to hear it...not for their good but for yours.
But yes some people do "push" it and that's not the right way to go.

Oh and RedGlory I LOVE this line!!!
Don't hate us, because we think you look thirsty.lol

For some, it's the very same reason atheists and agnostics push their belief systems on the rest of us- they believe they and their friends/colleagues/families are right and want everyone else to think like they do. Others really believe that your eternal soul is in danger and they want to save you from missing out on heaven.

For the same reason as they would tell you what the cure for AIDS/cancer/etc. was, if they happened to find it out. If you knew the cure for an incurable disease, wouldn't you tell other people?

It's like this. Christians believe that what Jesus said about Himself was the truth: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: No one comes to the Father except through me." A Christian who really believes that and isn't just 'playing church' will tell people about Jesus because they want the people they know to come to know the Lord too.

It's up to you, to listen, or not. But to us, telling you that truth is more important than anything because we believe it involves your eternal destiny. I'm sorry you find it bothersome... but that's why we do it.

You know how you try something that is really great and you tend to want to share it with people? Well, that is how these people are; they feel that their religion has change them for the better and now they want to share it with everyone. Besides, in the Christan religion, it preaches the idea that people should preach the ideas of Christianity to everyone.
I know, it's annoying but that is just the way it is.

Because they care about people and believe that the Bible is true and that it's God's Word and they really don't want to see people go to hell. They shouldn't be pushy though. They should just share the truth and pray for those they are sharing with and let God do the rest.

I try not to push my religion on anyone. Some people get carried away with they self and may have religious pride.
Some like me just enjoy sharing what we have learned.
I don't think anyone should badger or stalk someone to drive any religion down someones throat. Jesus said to be fishers of men. He was trying to convey to his disciples the method to speak to people about his new words and philosophy of life some contrary to Jewish doctrine.
When you fish, you throw out the bait and if the fish bites, you can pull him in because he wants the bate. I can preach to you all day but unless you are ready, you will shut down and turn me off. As in fishing so it is with people and religion.
I think all knees will bowl one day and realize there is one who Love man enough to come here and show us the way out. Sorry that some have treated or disrespected your free choice. Please forgive them and their passion and choose your way!
