I would like to find the federal tax ID for an organization that I've paid fees to... If there was a cheap service online it would be more convenient for me to use it over the weekend rather than calling the company on Monday to obtain the Fed Tax ID myself.

Most companies will fill out W-9's with no-questions-asked. Just call them and ask for one.

you would need to know what state and check with the attorney general office. most states require this on the application for a business license and the application most times is available on line for the states attorney general website.
