1:27 So God created humans in his image. In the image of God he created them. He created them male and female.

So he created man and female, but there was no living man or female on earth..

2:7 Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the earth and blew the breath of life into his nostrils. The man became a living being.

Still no sign of a fremale. The man was created then formed, The female was created but not formed...

2:18 Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is right for him."

Here Im thinking, "Ok, this is when females become formed... but I was wrong..."

2:19 The LORD God had formed all the wild animals and all the birds out of the ground. Then he brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called each creature became its name.

Ok so God created humans, made them male and female. He then proceeds to make a male human, and expects him to be satisfied with animals..

2:20 So the man named all the domestic animals, all the birds, and all the wild animals. But the man found no helper who was right for him.

Duh! A human male would want a human female, that is how we were created... So why is God 'toying/joking' around like this?

2:21 So the LORD God caused him to fall into a deep sleep. While the man was sleeping, the LORD God took out one of the man's ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.

2:22 Then the LORD God formed a woman from the rib that he had taken from the man. He brought her to the man.

2:23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She will be named woman because she was taken from man."

So God finally formed the female he created, but he formed her from man instead of the same method as man, which was from dust... weird, why would he do that?

What's going on, everything seems a lil redundant...

There are many things that are difficult to understand and there is alot of understanding lost through translation and transliteration of this text into English. Also the Bible contains many parables and prophecies that are sometimes too complex for a simple man to explain and for the record not all is to be known while in the flesh. As I see it when God made creation at the time He made man ( Adam is the word for man in case you didn't know) He made them male and female and gave them specific tasks. We know this because He instructed them to have dominion over all of His creation. Fishermen, Herdsmen, Hunters and so on. But I think He made them like other living things in His creation, such as a tree is a living thing with a spirit and animals and so on, He made man as a living spirit. Male and Female. But after all was good and He rested He then formed Adam to cultivate the land (to be a farmer), this is where it gets interesting, He breathed the breath of Life into him and he became a living soul. Soul !!! Notice the difference. Adam wasn't just any man, he was a man with a soul. I also think it's very interesting that the word Adam is the translation for the word man. Well, now that God had Adam and he brought to him many animals. God realized , this man also needs a female companion, not just any female mind you, but one with a soul. That was why she was created from Adam's flesh. I'm not sure and can't explain everything, like why God didn't breathe her own soul into her, I just don't know. But I do know they were're made from one flesh ( the reason for marriage ) and that Adam called her woman ( notice the difference again, instead of female). Now these two souls didn't know the things that happened in the first Heaven Age and Satan's iniquity, for he was the first sinner and the creator of evil. But they would come to know of Good and Evil through the temption of Satan's spirit. Now, we know that before Christ walked this earth in the flesh He was with God before the making of His creation. Now after the revealing knowledge of good and evil Adam knew to call his wife Eve, the mother of all living. Because it would be through their offspring that many, many generations later that Christ would be born and be the Saviour of our souls offering us everlasting life. And it was the fear of Adam taking forth us hand upon the Tree of Life that God cast them from out of the Garden of Eden. Because God didn't want them knowing of how these things would come to past. That's as far as I am going to elaborate, I know it gets confusing, but I tried to explain the best I could with what little knowledge I have.

Part of the confusion stems from the fact that there are two creation stories in Genesis. The second story which begins at 2:5 focuses solely on the creation of man, and is reportedly older than the story in the first chapter. The major inconsistency is that in Chapter 1, it is reported that man was created after the animals, and in Chapter 2, man was created before any plants were created. The story is more important for laying the blueprint for the Judeo-Christian God than it is for laying out an orderly blueprint for the creation of the Earth. The actions and inactions of God reveal his trancendental nature and his orders to Adam lead to the dilemma of free will vs. premeditation.

Genesis 1:1 - 2:23 is a literature style known as Resumptive-Expansive.

Genesis 2:4-23 is an explanation or expansion of what occured on day 6. (1:24-31)

Therefore, we can not read the text in chronological order. Because Genesis 2:4, is a resumption and expansion of something already stated (1:24-31).

Now about God parading animals in front of Adam. God did not really expect Adam (i.e. man) to be sastisfied with animals. The story is simply illustrating the point that God made a being specifically to mate with Adam.

Why was Eve not created out of dust? Well, God is showing the unique unity of man and woman and how they belong as one. "bone of my bones" and "flesh of my flesh". That man and woman were physically created, even in their orgin to be one. And then verse 24, goes on to explain how this relates to the marriage institution.

Dear Redundant:
You have a wonderful mind and rightfully you are questioning the bible. or any other religion. They are not perfect and they are of Man. Let not the bible destroy your understanding and faith in the whole picture. I came across a book called " The Utantia Book "
The word Urantia means Earth. Close to one thousand pages in the rear talk about the life of Jesus the Christ.
There is information in there that tells that there were humans before Adam and Eve and Adam and Eve were sent here on a mission to evolve mankind, they were not formed here.. I think that book will give you some answers. The book was kept secret for ten years and it is channeled from the angels and higher beings. For me, I favor it to the bible but still refer to the Scriptures of the bible as well, Especially the New Testament Gospels and the words of Jesus. The book cost fifty dollars had bound, but you can look it up on the Internet and it won't cost you anything to read.

The first is a brief account of creation, the second is a detailed account of creation. And yes, God formed man first, then the animals, then saw that there was nothing created for man to have companionship with so He put Adam to sleep, took part of his side and formed Eve. Then God brought Eve to Adam and Adam recognized Eve as a human like him.

Just a little side humor. This is how the female got the name "woman." When Eve came out and Adam saw her he said "Wo Man!!!!" :)

Woman was taken from the DNA of Adam's rib and built.
Actually, in the Hebrew he built her perfectly for Adam. Adam
was alone for awhile and named all the animals. This a true
account not a myth or fable. He did not expect him to be satisfied with animals. You are right He formed Eve.

If you're interested in some good references I'd give them to you

Basically, in Genesis, you have a, quick overview of the "Creation of the Planet & it's inhibitants." Notice that in the first one, it focuses on the birth of our planet.

Now the more detailed part, (The second) gives you the account of Adam and naming the animals, Eve, and so forth.

You really have to pay attention to how it starts out, because it is easy to get confused or skeptical.

The early passages focus on the planet.
The later passages focus on Adam and Eve.

We were created in God image, that is with his qualities of love, kindness, wisdom, and power, to mention a few.
Jehovah created Eve for Adams sake, someone to share his life with.
Adam is credited with the first few chapters of the bible, thru Genesis 5:2 anyway...to bad you can not ask him why he repeated himself...maybe he thought it would help future generations to understand better.
Guess he was wrong about that too.

Two different accounts of the Creation. The first (Elhoist, because God is called "Elohim" in Hebrew) is the 6 day creation account. The second (Yahwist, because God is called "YHWH" or "Yahweh" in the passage) is a second account. They do conflict: in the first, plants are made before man; in the second, plants are made after man.

Personnally, I think the Bible should be taken with a grain of salt. What I mean is that it was wrtiten by people, and it took hundreds of years for people to acctually write the stories down. Also it was written in ancient languages and translated many times, which can distort the story. Really, the main idea is all that matter, god created the earth, people, animals and don't worry too much about the fine details.
