If they could detect it soon enough, let's say 10 years before it hits the Earth, they could send a space shuttle or something to move the asteroid from it's orbit. Even a gravitational pull that small can affect the asteroid's path, but it needs a lot of time to do that. Scientists are also trying to develop a device that uses solar wind to protect us. It gathers Sun's power and reflects into the asteroid, maybe burning it up so steam would come up to the surface and therefore steam would be the force that knocks the asteroid out of its orbit.

If the shelter could only let people in that did not know there was a God, I guess I could not get in THAT shelter. What could I do really do?
However I am sure there would be some other scientists who would build another shelter that would allow folk that believe in God or goddesses in. I mean if there is a market for it, I am sure there will be funding for it.
To the guy that would MURDER all the scientists that built the shelter.....please talk to your pastor and read your New Testament. Your theology is screwed up.

It's only your opinion that death by fire, flood or starvation would be horrible. Even more horrible would be being trapped in a shelter with closed-minded atheist scientists. I mean, really, what would one talk about?

If you're an atheist, you wouldn't believe in eternity anyway. You're going to cease to exist sooner or later and the sun is going to burn out in five billion years, so your point is? Besides, many atheists say they would rather die than be bored in heaven, so what makes you think they would want to spend their lives in a shelter.

Science want be able to save them, For no matter where they hide God will find them...no cave will save them God tells us this in His words....Gods TRUE children will have no fear for the Lord will redeem His Children before this happens,And all that will be in your cave will be the Atheists Yea I can see it now. Atheists, being able to read someones mind weather they are lying or not.It is not called lying it is called denying God Him self... I pray for the Blinded and confused, That is like the blind leading the blind.for even thinking their is such a cave that you can hide from the waft of God.Wake up! this is so funny to me, This question...God is good He healed my Freind ...Thank you Lord.

So, let's think about this for a second.
My choices would be
1) Give up my hope that I have in Christ in order to spend the rest of my life with a bunch of very selfish, cruel, and nasty atheists...
2) Keep my faith in Jesus, die, and go to be with Him forever....
No contest. I choose door number TWO!!

Why does everyone always associate science with atheism? Who says they have to go hand in hand? Just because I think the bible is a fairy tale and the people who worship it are morons doesn't mean I'm a religious scientist.

Given my experience, I would find it much more believable that many flavors of Christians and Muslims would be more likely to make such an exclusion than scientists - even atheistic scientists.
I wouldn't turn away anyone who came in peace and in need.

I like the Simpsons' take on this question.
Everyone was crowded into Flanders' bomb shelter when a meteor was coming. They all got out and the meteor hit the shelter.
