I recently adopted an Australian Shepard/ Catahoula Leapord X dog. His previous name was Toby, which we don't think suits him at all. He's lively and lovable and very smart! He is six months old and loves his Kongs! We have considered: Max, Spock, Frankentsein, Baxter, Loki, and Kong. We like these names because they suit his friendly yet strong personality. Do you have any suggestions or votes for any of the names we like?

How about "Dozer" - like a bulldozer.
I have two Catahoulas and just talking with friends the other night that I should have named my male Catahoula Dozer. He is so strong.
My dogs are named Pete and Dixie.

I really like Baxter, nice strong name. Personally I think Kong is more of a silly name than a strong name, but that's just me. Congratulations on your new family member!

Boomer! In Australia, that's what they call a large male kangaroo. It would indicate that he is strong and athletic, which would cover the catahoula, too. I bet he is really smart, as well.

HOW LONG DID HE HAVE THE NAME TOBY?
HE MIGHT SUFFER AN IDENTITY CRISIS IF YOU RENAME HIM.
CONSIDER KEEPING TOBY AND ADDING ONE OF YOUR NAMES ...EG: TOBY-LOKI.

THAT WAY HE WILL STILL RECOGNISE HIS ORIGINAL NAME AND START TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE NEW ONE AS WELL. GRADUALLY YOU CAN DROP THE TOBY BIT AND HE WILL RESPOND TO LOKI. I ACTUALLY LIKE THE NAME TOBY LOKI. GOOD LUCK
