It condemns scientists to house arrest for disagreeing with the Pope, then "forgives" them about four hundred years later.
Then it wonders why nobody believes anymore.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the most publically vocal about this and he said that if science OR logic, or both, proves ANYTHING wrong in Buddhism, then revisions and so on will take place... however, considering that conversation has been going on, with science, for awhile now, science hasn't disproven anything Buddhist yet. If anything science more and more supports and compliments Buddhism.
Logical debate and examination of the Buddha's teachings haven't proven anything wrong in over 2000 years so I'm sure the logic angle is covered. They debate that stuff constantly at various monasteries.

Jehovah witnesses, seventh day Adventists, and other prognosticators are getting good at it. They've had some practice. In the last century, more than a few groups sold everything, moved to Palestine, built a watchtower, and waited for God. When the hour passed, they went home, started a new church, set a new date, and repeated the process.
I imagine the Pope was very happy to apologize for the his mistake about the world being flat. He promptly launched a small army, to conquer it!
The Bible has several books dedicated to this topic, Kings, and Chronicles.

JW's weeded out all of the false teachings brought in over the centuries from the apostate churches of christendom.
But you are right about the majority of religions, they refuse to admit error.
NOW, why is it that people attack Jehovah's Witnesses because of their admitted errors(which they have corrected) when you say here, that the honorable thing to do is admit the errors, and let them go?
JW's should be hailed as the most scientific of all the religions. Their stand on the Bible started from the point of all of the false teachings and practices of christendom, and over the last hundred + years have succesfully identified and weeded out these teachings and practices.
Good job JW's.
The obvious absence of the other answerers recognition of this noble stand, is quite astonishing.

It has, on rare occasions, apologized. As with the treatment of First Nations Peoples in residential schools. Unfortunately, not all Churches have apologized that are responsible for that part of history.

Religion first and foremost never admits mistakes. If they did, they'd immediately lose all credibility. Sometimes new religions are formed from the ashes of older faiths, with the "bad" parts removed. The Reformation was an example of this.
To "cover" for their mistakes, religions will do all sorts of bizare mental acrobatics to show that their holy books are still correct. Its truly amazing what can happen when people let their beliefs override their reason.

I know for a fact that at least the Jehovah's Witness make changes and admit the new adjustment. I do not think that any other religion does so.

the catholic church has done so for two well known people- galileo and mary magdelene. he is no longer excommunincated and she is a saint who was never a prostitute
they also believe in evolution.
currently the (chicago) englican church has gay clergy and is debating that issue- the ones who aren't homophobic don't think the bible verses against homosexuality are valid.
