That's an even bigger crackpot idea than the "Flat Tax" or the "Fair Tax" proposals. Sheesh!

No, a National Lottery is what we need to use as a funding source for all the social welfare programs reduced or cut by our "well-meaning politicians". The IRS can be funded by a deduction in our Senators & Representatives paychecks every week. In addition, the National Lottery could fund Social Security as well.

I don't think so. The US has to many burdens on the system now. Just look at the state's lotto's filled with corrupt people everywhere, down to the sales clerks. I have seen it in my state, misappropriations of funds the list is long. It may sound crazy but if you were to get rid of the tax code as every ones knows and just tax purchases on goods bought, taxes would be simpler. Also we could get those that don't pay taxes(the biggest burden) to pay. Thanx for the thought.

No i disagree......A national loto would hurt state run lotos... The way to fix the IRS is to have a stight tax rate for everyone. Rich and poor alike.... If they would hit everyone with just a 10% tax ...not write offs ....not income limits.... We would be in better shape... But as long as the Very rich run Washington... It will never ever happen

Sure, lets hit the poor harder than they are now. Lower-income people buy more than their proportional share of lottery tickets.
