I think he was, but just that... a person....maybe even one who thought ahead of his time, yet people misunderstood him to be something he really wasnt (son of God) and not born from a virgin either.
What are your thoughts?

No. It is known that there were many cult leaders and pretenders to the throne putting together their little followings, hoping to resist the Romans or start a rebellion.

And they all thought, if they succeeded, they would be King.

But, aside from a few bits and pieces, probably from several of them, no.

Too much of the Gospels is simply copied from other sources, other cults and even characters in the Old Testament like Elijah and Elishah to say that there was a real person behind any of it.

The Gospel writers buried any real inspiration(s) under their magic stories until nothing else was left.

Ya I think Jesus was a real person. Maybe he was delusional and thought himself the son of God, or maybe he just wanted to help people but in any case he was just some guy.

It truly relies upon. in case you recommend the Jesus defined by the Bible that should turn water into wine and scientific care human beings by touching them? No. Atheists don't think that Jesus existed. in case you recommend somebody named Jesus, properly there have been many human beings named Jesus returned then, and hundreds of that have been all claiming to be the messiah. There are no secular components of Jesus exterior the Bible and texts written in thoroughly distinctive places to the place Jesus lived, hundreds of years after his dying, and based entirely on the Bible.

There might have been a baby named Jesus born 2000 years ago, but he was nothing like the one in the bible. That is most definitely a fictional character.

I think that IF they can finally prove he was real (aside from using the Bible, I mean SCIENTIFICALLY), then I would agree with them. I also think that if he was ONE person, he was one heck of an enlightened one (think Buddha, etc), and that it is unfortunate that many of his "followers" don't take "his words" more to heart. Of course, maybe it IS better that they don't, as there are other things in the Bible that I'm glad AREN'T taken more seriously as well.

I tend to believe the Jesus of the bible was not a real person but a conglomeration of the characteristics of several men of that time.

I believe there was a rabbi from Galilee named Jesus. Actually, his ideas were not as novel as you claim. A lot of his thinking was the result of the introduction of Greek philosophy onto Jewish beliefs.

I think that you, like many non believers, have an opinion that lacks the same type of proof that you require of believers.
