many members of the cuckulidae family (cuckoos) are parasitic nesters, and even practice infanticide, tossing the exsisting chicks out of the nest.
A few members such as the guira cuckoo (Guira guira) are not well documented as parasitic nesters. the guira practices group nesting instead. several females get together and all lay their eggs in the same place, taking turns caring for the eggs, and then the chicks. However, the females all practice egg tossing, and infanticide, so about 50% of the total young perish.
However, there is no evidence that the females selectively kill chicks and eggs that are not their own. It seems random, and there is no pattern (i.e.- size or pattern of the egg) that determines an egg's or a chick's relation to the female.
so, to answer your question, the cuckoo is the bird you are looking for.

Cuckoo's lay their eggs in other bird's nests and then once the chick has hatched it pushes out all the other eggs so that it's the only one left. The cuckoo chick may be 3 times bigger than its 'parents' but they'll stil feed it.

"Why?" isn't a sturdy question in case you opt for to get evolutionary solutions. Evolutionary hypotheses will inform you "how", yet there is not any clarification for a trait to conform interior the 1st place. as quickly as a trait seems and acquires a function, organic decision might hone the trait and reason transformations in direction of larger version, yet we are able to purely hypothesize relating to the commencing place of the trait. Cuckoos belong to an order of birds talked approximately as Cuculiformes; and interior this order there are examples of what could have been the intermediate levels of the evolution of social breeding parasitism. working example, contained with regards to the South American guira cuckoo (Guira guira), the ladies human beings regularly lay eggs in communal nests. it is, they make a (not very difficult) nest, and that they proportion the incubation of their eggs. some women human beings breed by using themselves, some others in no way incubate. subsequently, there's a style in direction of much less parental care in this team. different Cuculiformes from South united statesa. are parasites only like the ecu cuckoo, and their chicks kill different youthful that they locate interior the parasitized nest. So this trait might have arisen as a shrink contained in thechronic in direction of parental care, then communal nests which involves laying eggs in a nest geared up by using different persons of an identical species, and then only laying them in different species' nests.
