WATER!
Without water there would not be gatored.
Add a few ingredients and water becomes Gatorade, but its hydrating effects may not be the same afterward.
"There's nothing magical about Gatorade that hydrates the body better," Robergs, a UNM exercise physiologist said. "You put water and Gatorade in front of an athlete and they prefer to drink Gatorade just because it tastes better."
The reason Gatorade is thought to rehydrate better is because of the carbohydrates in the drink, which aid the small intestine in absorbing water in the body, he said. The body absorbs water seven times faster with carbohydrates.
Research shows that Gatorade provides athletes with carbohydrates needed during exercise. But, unless a person is going to exercise for at least 90 minutes, consuming the carbohydrates is self-defeating, there is no need for people to ingest a drink that is basically sugar water.
According to the Gatorade Sports Science Institute's Web site, water quenches thirst, but is not an effective hydrator because it prematurely satisfies thirst. The institute's research shows most people don't drink enough water during exercise and the fluids in their bodies are constantly being depleted through urination. The salt added to Gatorade maintains the desire to keep drinking it, according to the Web site.

Its probably water, but gatorade is great too! i drink a helluva lot of gatorade, cause I'm swimmer. i would say you should drink gatorade before and during the game, lots of water after. As long as you don't get dehydrated its really personal preferance. Hope it helps!

Studies show that people should only drink Gatorade if they are active in sports/activity for more than 2 hours. This is because your body is working longer than average so it loses vital nutrients and electrolytes faster than water can replace. If your activity is under 2 hours, go for water. So, if your going to be playing a long game and your worried about depriving yourself of electrolytes and other important factors of health, drink Gatorade . However, if you aren't playing for that long, go for the water. Water is usually healthier anyway. Good luck!

Water is better because gatorade has a high sodium content. On the other hand, if you get a good workout, gatorade will quench your thirst and hydrate you faster.

WATER IS ESSENTIALLY BETTER. TO FULLY GET THE MOST OUT OF IT, DRINK PLENTY BEFORE THE GAME, DURING, AND THEN AFTER.
BUT GATORADE DURING THE GAME WILL HELP KEEP YOU HYDRATED IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FEEL THE SLOSH OF WATER IN YOUR STOMACH.
BUT FOR A GAME DO BOTH.
DRINK WATER BEFORE AND GATORADE DURING THAT WAY YOU KNOW FOR SURE YOU WON'T DEHYDRATE.

Gatorade is full of sugar and calories. But it does have electrolites, which water doesn't. If you're extremely active, you need to electrolites, so go with the gatorade :)

water does not replace the electrolytes that you loose during a workout. gatorade or propel will hydrate you just as good as water and replenish what you sweat out. how do i know? im a marathon runner, liquids are my life!
