Why do people categorized ages 18-25 together? Why does it end at 25 and not 27 or 30?

After the age of 25 or so, a person is truly an adult and therefore not prone to idiotic, risky behavior. I think that's according to the car insurance companies.

There are many 18 year olds who are more mature than 30 year olds, but they have to draw the line some where.

By the age of 25 most people have reached a certain level of maturity. Most have finished 4 or 5 years of college, and perhaps some extra work. Most already have established careers and some credit at age 25.

I think it has to do with income level along with spending habits. Radio, TV, newspapers and other media use this information to determine their advertising rates as well as what to advertise in their particular market. For example, a sports magazine will have a different readership than Woman's Day so you won't expect to find ads for tires in Woman's Day, nor will you find make-up ads in a sports magazine. There are other similar factors as well.

because we supposedly have a limited amount of control over doing reckless things till 25 (psychologically its accepted thats what driving laws/insurance is based on) and its grouped with 18-25 because thats when you are LEGAL and reckless.

at 18 you're a LEGAL adult, but you're not respected by elders as an adult until you're 25. lol
