This is an excellent idea, for ease at baggage claim but also theft protection. Easier to see someone from across the room trying to walk out the door with your bag.

The first thing is when buying luggage try to avoid black as that is the most common.

The easiest thing to do, and easy to see, and cheap, is duct tape. Put a big x or other pattern on the side. You can buy it in bright colours too. Or you could buy a luggage strap. They also come in bright colours. It is easily seen, and adds to security and strength. (It doesn't make it impossible to break into your luggage, but it adds an extra step to open if a thief wants to look in your bag.)

Easily identifiable luggage tags along with a strip of colored duct tape or a colorful ribbon or colored shrink wrap will all make your luggage stand out.

I use large, bright luggage tags on the handle. For my hard-side bags, I also put a sticker on each side.

Buy a couple of metres of brightly coloured ribbon.

Tie them in knots around the handles of your cases.
