Evolutionism" means different things to different people. For example, there are theistic evolutionists and there are atheistic evolutionists. But the basic premise behind the evolutionary world-view is atheistic. Theistic evolutionists are those who have managed to reach a compromise between two very distinct world-views: creationism and evolutionism. Evolutionism, in its purer form, is the idea that this universe is the result of random cosmic accidents. Life arose spontaneously via chance chemical processes, and all life-forms are related and share a common ancestor - from bananas to birds, from fishes to flowers, apes to Adam, etc

Well.. actually, I'm not an Evolutionist.. just a Mathematician, Teacher, and a Scientist...

But I try to keep an eye on some of these Evolutionists.. some of them seem more like REvolutionists at times.

it's a buzzword applied by people who don't believe the same as the people they're talking about. another favorite is 'Darwinists' which means the same thing.

the idea is to pretend there's two (equally valid) schools of thought on the subject - the 'evolutionist' school and the 'intelligent design' school. which is a pile of BS. every intelligent and educated person in the world is an 'evolutionist', with the exception of a small number of provincial religious Americans who still think God made the world in 7 days.

Frankly, I really don't care. If people are simply saying that because they think people who accept and understand the theory of evolution will be offended, then I think that's pretty childish. There's more important things to worry about than someone acting like a 4 year old.

Weird - there is no such thing as an "evolutionist". I just wanted to see what your question was.

It made me feel like posting the following.

If it wasn't for the fictional satan character the Bible would only be 2 pages long and end with the words
"...and God created Eve for Adam and they lived happily ever after. THE END"

Nice try. Using a degrading term doesn't make me less a scientist, nor does it hide the fact that Creationists rely on deception to hide their absence of evidence.
