Well, horny boys need to have their penises chopped off! lol Im probably get alot of Thumbs downs from guys! (Sorry, its how you were made!!!)
Lol, but anywhooooo, If your dog is Sterilized ("fixed") then its REALLY cheap. Where I live if thier not fixed, its about $100. But if they are $5. Were I live, everythings cheaper is they are neuterd, from vet check ups to taxes and other stuff.. Check in with your vet and see what they say. But also, if your planning on getting the chip done first, tell them you have an appointment to see a vet to get him done, and show them proof. But remember, the chip dosent "Find" the dog when its lost, if hes found the chip just ideantifys him. Or if some takes him to a vet or where ever they have a scanner, they can be identfied back to you.

I had my dog chipped through HomeAgain a few months ago. It was around $30, plus the office call at the vet. And then $17 for lifetime registration in the system.
Totally worth it.
I would check around the area just to see what type of scanners vets and shelters are using. While most are going to a univeral type, some still have the older versions which only read on chip or the other.
For example my dog has a HomeAgain chip, if she were to be picked up by an organization with an Avid scanner, they wouldn't find the chip, and vice versa. Newer scanners will read both, and there are programs that are slowly getting these out to shelters and veterinarians.
Either way it is still worth it. I've heard stories of pets being reunited with their owners years after being lost.

There are various types of microchips but they all will cost you up to 50$. The Home Again brand of microchip had been a one time life time fee but is changing that to annually. I suspect all other companies will unfortunately follow suit. No matter what its worth the price.

prices vary based on the vet doing it and where you live. My vet in connecticut charged $35. Then there is a one time fee you pay the company to put the dog in their system (i think it is around $20)

Microchips average around 40 dollars...and a 15 dollar registration fee through the national corp.
Definitly have him neutered. It is the best investment you can make for your pet, aside from microchipping..
Good pet owner ...good job :)
