you can try soulseek, it may not have all the "big name" artists but you can find a lot of music, and also some cool underground stuff. i used to use limewire but i messed up my computer. been using soulseek ever since and haven't had problems

If you're gonna download music, pay for the tunes and get them from a secure location.

You say it dosn't work well anymore? Well, considering you haven't defined this sentance, I can't tell if it's just that you can't find the tunes you want, or it's not downloading them. If downloading them's the problem, you probably downloaded a virus or trojan embedded in a song or other file you obtained off there. Limewire uses a special method of downloading known as "file-sharing" (also known as P2P). This means that you are downloading files unsecurely from other peoples computers. Often, Virus scanners are unable to pickup something when it is embedded in a file. This is an easy job for a PC hacker to get away with.

May I suggest you try a couple of things:

1) If you have a virus scanner (I hope you do!) then do a full scan of your system. If you don't, AVG is a good free one that you can get from this link:

2) Another program you can try is one called "Hijackthis". This gives you access to hidden folders on your system, in which you can manually remove spyware and viruses. I warn you ONLY USE THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! If you remove a wrong file, this can permenantly damage or even destroy your system. As long as you're knowledgable about file paths, you should be ok - if not don't download this.

I hope this helps you with your downloading problem (if this is the case). Like I said, try to stick to quality, legal, secure services that'll keep your computer from harm. Itunes is a good one - you can download each song for about a pound. You're not gonna tell me that's a lot of cash are you?
