Deuteronomy 22:28-29

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

Judges 5:30

They must be dividing the spoils they took: there must be a damsel or two for each man, Spoils of dyed cloth as Sisera's spoil, an ornate shawl or two for me in the spoil.

Zechariah 14:1-2

Lo, a day shall come for the Lord when the spoils shall be divided in your midst. And I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle: the city shall be taken, houses plundered, women ravished; half of the city shall go into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be removed from the city.

...is that enough or do you want more? BUB.

okay so dont tell me that the bible doesnt advocate rape or violance and DONT tell me that im reading it wrong or something. YOU are the ones reading it wrong by figuring out ways to rationalize this evil. YOU, who have placed your heart and soul in THIS book (which apparantly you havent ready anyhow) are the evil ones.

do you understand? okay so you keep living in denial and pretending like you know instead of actively and openly seeking to understand what is REALLY going on in the world.

i hope reading these passages shakes you enough to realize that the bible and therefore christianity is a lie.

if you want more references for ****** up bible passages go here www.evilbible.com

dont believe that website? then cross reference it with your own bible. ...youd better put on some armor first and pray before you visit that evil site though.

Sorry Sean, Your interpretation of scripture lacks much to be desired. It's not in my Bible.
Edit again you are misinterpreting read these scriptures and seek the meaning from God. Deuteronomy I have explained many times, I'm reasonably sure you have gained this misinterpretation from a website as it has been misquoted much. If you read these scriptures for yourself you will see where in the case of rape the man was put to death it uses the word forced and in the other scripture you are quoting force was not used..Try to read the whole chapter and understand under the law rapist were put to death the same with adulterers.
I could go on but the truth is if you read and seek God rather than seeking an evil God he can and will reveal the truth to you.

Umm you say "as a Christian", but you are quoting outdated Old Testament Hebrew (Jewish) customs from like 3 to 5 thousand years ago. There were no Christians then...While we are at it, lets go sacrifice some goats and bulls, unblemished of course, we dont want to anger God with our inadequate offerings. Because if we do He surely will rain hellfire and brimstone down upon us in His Almighty fury...Make sure that we have enough oil for our lamps too. because if we are going to think like they did 4,000 years ago, we should also LIVE like they did 4,000 years ago, so NO ELECTRICITY, go herd some sheep and live a good honest simple life. Did you eat fish on Friday? Werent you supposed to? Which day do you observe the Sabbath? If you dont observe it the correct way. should we gather around and stone you to death? Keep up these assinine questions and we will gather round and stone you...Take your dumb azz to a Church and ask a Clergyman...Obviously you have a over active imagination, gross lack of understanding of the Bible and the context of it's contents, and wayyy too much time on your hands...Did you actually say, "child-like behavior of God"? like the hissy-fit he had with the Tower of Babel? or when he got really pissed off and flooded the earth? So you wont post any mean comments, but you call Christanity a lie...I hope you can decipher the censorship dumbfcuk...Ill bet your a Muslim...Doesnt matter, you're just a joke anyways.
Im not religious, but I am spiritual. To call anyone's beliefs a lie is utterly disrespectful. And uncalled for. I'm sure you did it just to try to provoke a response...Whatever your beliefs are, you are entitled to them, just as everyone else is too...

Cardboard Jesus you are full of crap! No where in that passage does it mention rape in any way shape or form. Get your facts straight.

A lie? No, not at all. That's like calling fables lies. Just because they are not literally true, does not make them lies, or even untrue.

They are demonstrations of what not to do, and the consequences for such behaviour. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were corrupt; thus, they were punished, both for their sins and as a warning to all others after them as to what will happen if you are corrupt. This is a technique used by nearly every human justice system created, why wouldn't God use it too?

Besides, it is extremely difficult to tell someone not to do something, and specifically why not to do it, without describing the event in question. Of course you can say "do not murder", but murder (or indeed, any word) is a meaningless word without some sort of event to connect it to.

The Bible does not justify these events; quite the opposite, actually. Merely mentioning an event is not tantamount to supporting it.

For one, it depends on what church you go to. Not every church follows the same beliefs or have the same teachings, even if they are Christian churches. 1 Corinthians 11: 3- 10 gives a woman permission to speak in church if they have their head covered. It was a rule given by Paul because the church because they Christians in the church were new Christians. In 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 Paul changed the rules because the church became disorderly. There is no passage that tells you to ignore what is impossible in the society today. The Christians religion is a cafeteria style of life, where you can choose to follow one rule and ignore the other. As I said earlier, not every church adheres to the rules. Those people are called false brethren (2 Corinthians 11:13)

I could explain to you why rape, and murder/sin is found in the bible, but not justify it, for even God himself does not justify sin. Just as there is good there is also evil. Since the beginning of time in the book of the bible Genesis Satan has presented himself, b/c of the the devil the tempter that's why there was and always will be the crimes of rape, murders and every kind of sins in this world. Just b/c Satan/ and sin exists it doesn't mean that God is still not in control. We are all free moral agents God has given us the free will to chose good or evil, but its our chooses that will determine our final outcome in the end. With all your learning you must get understand. Read the bible with a sincere heart and ask God for wisdom.
Proverbs1: To fear(respect) God is the beginning of wisdom.
It's not about religion but about faith in the word of God, the word of God is not a lie but truth. The truth that will deliver your soul from darkness, and eternal damnation.

You are not understanding the old testament laws which we are not under. The old testament laws was for the Jews (God chosen people) we are gentiles, there's a lot of history involved that does not apply to us.. To understand the old testament and the bible in general we must apply ourselves in a good study. God judgments have always been righteous, and not evil as you are trying to insinuate.

God didn't do anything, the people had free will and it was their choice to do it.

And when you say "do you understand? okay so you keep living in denial and pretending like you know instead of actively and openly seeking to understand what is REALLY going on in the world."

That applies to a world about 2000 years ago. Things were different. Women didn't have respect, and were seen as property. In most civilized societies, things have changed. The bible advocates violence when it's necessary, but doesn't everything else do the same? A religion can't be a lie, it's beliefs can be based on some contradictions, but not every person believes the same exact word-for-word thing in the bible. If they do, I guess they're a bunch of mindless fools, and they deserve to be wherever that gets them. Despite what some book says, you can still follow a religion and think for yourself at the same time.

Because if you believe there is a God, you also believe there is a devil. It's the perpetual fight between "good and evil".

There is STILL both good and evil in this world, in case you haven't noticed.

P.S. "If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her."

Uhh...What exactly is wrong with this? I bet if this rule was in place today, rape cases would be almost nil. Now any ape can go out, pick up some drunk young college kid from a bar, give her an STD while she's passed out, and walk away to do it again to someone else tomorrow. Rape is one of the most common crimes. Why? Because punishment is usually a few months in jail. Wouldn't it be funny if rapists now had to marry their victims and support them for the rest of their lives, as well as give their family money? Now, that wouldn't happen in our post-religious "cultured" society, would it?

Yeah, the Bible is just soooo horrible....sigh....You don't get it, do you? Where in the Bible does it say there is no evil in this world? The world IS evil. Sin happened when Eve took the apple. At least READ the Bible before you question it. Getting biased misconstrued quotes off of a website is a pretty stupid way to educate yourself. Use your own brain and pick up a book.

P.P.S. In case you haven't noticed, God only uses sin in the Bible when people are BEING EVIL and commiting sinful acts themselves! Doh! It was a form of punishment for when people where DISRESPECTING his wishes! Wow! Something that really makes sense! No way! It called C-O-N-T-E-X-T say it with me now....

I am a former Christian because of those things, among others. Christians will deny that those things are in the Bible, but they absolutely are. When they are forced to see that those things are indeed there, then they just tell you that you aren't interpreting it correctly, but never seem to offer an interpretation that makes any sense.

BTW, this isn't a modern discussion either, over 2000 years ago Gnostics had the same concerns. In the Gnostic system the "god" of the Old Testament, Yahweh, is seen as a lesser, false creator god, and not the true God that sent Christ. In fact, in Gnosticism Christ is sent to save humanity from Yahweh.

"in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." 2 corinthians 4:4

Who is the god of this world? It obviously is not the same one whose image is Christ.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12

Spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms? Yahweh is in a heavenly realm and admits that he creates evil.

I don't remember anything about rape in the Bible, honestly, so I'm going to leave that one alone.

As far as murder, I think it's justifiable, but in the book of Exodus, when God kills all the first born, just to spite the Pharoah, is a bit much. The Pharoah's first born son was innocent of any crime and he died to show that God had power. I wonder what exactly the point of this was.

I don't think that God's behavior is child-like. I believe that there are reasons far too complicated for us as humans to fathom. So I honestly don't believe God would do anything to harm his children. I think he does many of these things to teach a lesson.

But I do wonder what purpose and reasons he had for some of his lessons.

Those are my thoughts. More questions to write down, stick in my pocket, and take with me to Heaven to ask Him.

Once again, it looks like the Christians don't know their own bibles. Here is a specific example:

"In Judges 21, god orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, god told them to hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and forcibly rape her and make her your wife."

Can it be any plainer than that?
