stop following the Old Testament and start following the New Testament instead. Does this signal the debate over Creationism is over? Since Christians reject the Books of Moses does that mean it's OK to believe in evolution?

Dharmana…how do you tell which parts of the Old Testament to throw out, if your not supposed to throw it all out. Did Jesus tell us which parts to ignore?

LOL!
You have a VERY good point!
No Old Testament, NO Creation theory!
But I think they are all clueless, repeating the first thing their one brain cell can recall.

When people tell you that, it does not mean that the Old Testament is null and void. What it means is that for a new CHristian, it is more important to hear about Jesus and what He has done for you. It is better to focus on this at the begining. THe Old Testament is still God's Word. Christians have not rejected it. THere are many things in the Old Testament that help us understand more about God.

The issue of evolution is seen differently by many Christians. Some believe in a literal translation of the creation account in Genesis, while others believe it is not meant to be taken literally.

I'm a Christian and I don't reject any books of the Bible and where did you get that idea from? I don't think most Christians would share your philosophy on the Old Testament. The Bible as a whole works together. I've never heard of Christians rejecting the Books of Moses and if they do then they aren't true Christians.

That's a denominational point of view. Personally, I believe that if we were not to learn from the books of the Old Testament, God wouldn't have let them be found. However, history is a great teacher, and we can learn a lot from history, and that's a fact. That's why many preachers preach from both sections during a sermon. It's kind of like a set of instructions for putting together something you bought at the store. If you only have half the instructions, you might eventually get it together, but that doesn't mean it's going to be right. (or stable.) It takes both sets to get it right.

Hello,

I just wanted to tell you that I went back and left a message for you on your original question. Please feel free to msg or email me (bakafanboy@yahoo.com) if I was unclear or if you have any questions about what I wrote.

As for this question, the Old Testament is important to the Christian. It contains the promise of Christ. Pointing to the time when the Saviour would come to deliver the world. The New Testament is a declaration that the time had come. That Christ was the Savior and that mankind has been redeemed from sin.

I don't know what Christians would tell you to discard the Old Testament, since they don't. Nor does it mean that they reject the Genesis Creation. I am not sure what Moses has to do with Creation, since it deals with the Exodus from Egypt.
Christians believe that God created heaven and earth. Genesis 1:1

Since when did Christians reject the books of Moses? I'm a Christian, and I haven't done that. In fact, I'm not quite sure what you are asking here, since I believe that God the Father is the Creator of all life. I do believe that Moses believed the same thing.

To follow the OT would mean you are not following Christ and His teaching which are in the NT. Yes the whole Bible is an important part of the Christian walk but we are to live by the example that Jesus showed us. The OT has great teaching and we are not to ignore it. I would question your "Christian friends" who tell you to reject the Books of Moses.

Why do you think Jews are still Jewish and not Christian? Maybe because the two religions just don't mesh as well as some want you to believe. There are some MAJOR contradictions between Old and New Testaments, and I suspect the Christians who answered in this manner just can't reconcile those glaring contradictions and it's just easier to say New Testament only.
