I have an appointment for an interview soon, and I'm kind of scared. I'm married, but I didn't include my husband on my application because he lives in California and I live in Missouri. I also do not depend on his income, as it varies weekly. One week can be $500, the next can be $23. It didn't ask any questions about am I married, etc., but should I be worried about it? Also, am I eligiblie for FSB automatically since I'm receiving Medicaid? The online screening tool said I could be eligible for $388 to $398 a month, which I could really use, that's almost my whole monthly grocery bill ($400). I only make $230 a month, so receiving FSB would stop me from having to rely on my parents to feed my son and I. I also feel bad because my friends feel sorry for me and always ask me over for dinner, and I feel ashamed of this. After my baby is born it will be easy for me to go get a job again, but nobody wants to hire me since I'm 7 months pregnant. Any answers?

It's not fraud if they don't ask you the question!! And I plan on telling them I'm married if they happen to ask! Read the question!

No, they will not go after him for child support due to the fact we are MARRIED. Just because he lives in CA doesn't matter. The most they can do would be go after him for money to support me, but he left within a year, so according to my lawyers, the state won't do anything. They will just treat it like we're separated.

Sorry you're getting so many annoying answers. I live in MO and receive Medicaid for my pregnancy, but I didn't qualify for food stamps. They wanted to know who lived with me, so I told them that I lived with my boyfriend and our combined incomes were too much (about $1600 per month). I'm pretty sure that they'll want to know if you're married, and I don't think it will matter that you don't rely on his income because they probably take it into account anyway. Probably.

Just make sure that you have his two most recent paycheck stubs, along with yours. You only have one child? Let's see... you only make 230 per month, but what does he make on average in a month? Let's say it's 1500. You'll probably be eligible if it's under $2000. Not totally sure, just make sure to bring the check stubs... you might also need your bank account statements (I needed them).

Alright I'm from MO as well, and you are not automatically eligible for FSB since you have Medicaid. My kids get MC+ for kids and due to income restrictions we do not qualify for food stamps. You do need to apply for WIC as well as food stamps. WIC is great for pregnant women and children. Children can get WIC until they are 5 yrs old. And not to sound mean but my grocery bill is $300 a month and I have 2 kids and a husband, I understand how hard it is to make it these days, but it can be done. You need to be a thrifty shopper at the grocery store. Ya know? I hope things get better for all of you. Have a great day and email me if you would like to talk or whatever.

Food stamp app asks for people in your household. But since you are married, technically, they need to know that because if they find out, after you start recieving benefits, you can be in trouble for fraud, and therefore it could be 6 months or more before you can reapply or get help again and you could face jail time as well as have to repay everything they gave you in foodstamps

It is fraud if you do not tell them that he sends you money. They will also go after him for child support.

If your seperated and asking for welfare they are supposed to go after him to try to recoop.

They do check bank accounts , ect.

Tax forms will bite you in the butt...... Or credit apps.... ITS ALL GOVERNMENT

If you have access or he sends you any money it has to be reported. If you claim the income anywhere for your rent, for taxes anything it will catch you and u will have to repay way more then you got. Then you will not get help if you need it.

I know in some states you even have to report gifts..... like if your parents pay your utilities they wanna know.

Just because they pay medical doesnt mean they will give you food stamps..... they can quality you for as little as 10.00

Try wic

You and your husband file taxes together I assume, so as far as the government is concerned his income is both of your income. Not including it constitutes fraud. You have to be honest on the forms or you could be prosecuted and lose all benefits. If your husband makes variable wages you just have to explain that to them, but you do have to report all the money that is earned between the two of you.
