My best friend works as a baker. Her boss is a mean woman, with only one goal, to work as little as possible, and, leave all the work to the people under her to complete.

ok, so one of the employees took a month leave of absence, so, my friend ended up working 6 days a week, and, she is totally exhausted..-- yesterday, my friend was at work, and her boss tried to show her how to do something, and, my friend replied it dont work that way, so her boss corrected her in front of people for having bad english, and, asking if she spoke english and did she go to school..

so, my friend is very upset...regarding. this and does not know what to do...what do you think she should do? report the boss? file something...

advise please..thanks

There is so little perks that you can ask for when working at a bakery. Is something feasible enough to lay a charge on?....can it hold in court?....yeah we definately get discouraged daily by our bosses, our spouses, traffic, etc. We talk about it to people who care and we go on. We don't deny that we need respect from people around us as human beings.

I'm not going to say like others that she should find a new job. First she must do all her duties very well then when her boss start to be rude in the first word she must tell her very clearly that she has rights to ask her work duties and explain any details she likes, but if she will not respect her and talk politely there will be a reply also in the same way. What I mean is your Friend must make it clear to her boss that she must not tell her words which considered not polite or break the rules of respect in all situations. Otherwise your friend also will be free from the rules and respect. To do this she must be very well in her job and disciplined worker.
The reason that both are connected that it removes any doubt of being a bad worker who deserve tough way which make it open to the other person that there is no other reason for being rude except she is a rude person and she deserves a similar reply.
She should also face the problem that she has to risk the job for a certain limit to reserve her dignity. I hope you got what I tried to say.
Good luck

Your friend's boss is rude and insensitive but did nothing to violate the law. There is no point in reporting her boss for anything.

Your friend was completely exhausted. That left her feeling vulnerable and extra sensitive to any kind of attack. Your friend should stop feeling upset. I'm sure it was obvious to everyone else around that the boss was being a cruel b***h and they are not thinking badly of your friend at all. Your friend should not let other people make her feel bad about herself. She knows who she is and she must not allow anyone else to change her opinion of herself. I hope your friend is just working this job as a step to another. She doesn't need to continue to subject herself to the ignorance that mean woman shows.

I personally know what it's like to have a bad boss. And I can also tell you that it is so worth it to be in a job where you are respected by management. Unless your friend has no other options, she should be finding another job where she can be appreciated for her work.

Sorry to say, but I don't think you can report a boss just for being rude. But that boss will be in a little bit of a bind when your friend tells her where to stick it and walks out. No one deserves to be treated like dirt when they are working and doing the best they can.

Best of luck!!

First of all I believe in hard working. I appreciate anybody who work hard even if the outcome is a failure.
For your friends case, First of all if your friend corrected her boss in front of other employees it made the boss angry. This is due to lack of knowledge from personal front of boss.
Now what to do,
1. If you want to fight legally then I am not a expert
2. If you want to still stick to your job but still want to do good, then first of all do not correct your boss in front of everybody if you know he/she is not going to take it positively. To take your boss into confidence correct him/her one to one. This will prove you are talented and own the trust of your boss.

This could be considered intimidation. Her boss sounds like a slag and needs a good slapping.... perhaps your friend is not alone and should try and stage a protest... or confront her.... This may lead to legal sacking though.

You may encourage your friend to look into the possibility of legal action against her boss, but you'd need more than this alone.

I personally believe that she will not be happy unless she likes what she is doing. So if her boss is going to be rude and make her miserable she needs to quit and find a new job that she enjoys and where her boss will respect her.

Your friend is being taken advantage of. Is there no other employee to help carry the load? Your friend should quit just when they are needed most. Watch the boss grovel then!

I think she needs to quit. Now. You can only take so much abuse, you know? Working hard is one thing, working to make up for someone's laziness is another. Putting up with that kind of rudeness isn't expected at all. She could probably get a much better job somewhere else.

I agree she should find a new job. But she should give notice, at least a week. Life's too short to be stressed at work. While there is a certain amount of crap in every job, she is taking entirely too much of it.
