Hey, I'm planning a roadtrip and don't quite know how to calculate the gas. I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is that all I need to know besides gas prices and how far I'm going? Thanks!

I would add to the other advice about filling up/driving and refill.
You will get a more accurate calculation if you combine hiway and city/stop and go driving for about 150 miles. Remember to use the "tenths" of a gallon in your calc. 150 miles divide by 6.3 gallons equals 23.8 MPG.
I know from my own experience driving my car on trips (volvo 5 cylinder) that when I keep it at 62 MPH the car gets nearly 30 MPG and when I do 68/69 it gets a bit less than 25 MPG--
same car, different driving habits. It makes a difference.
If you use a total amount of 70 gallons at an average cost of $2.90 a gallon it will cost you $203.00 for fuel. Good luck, have a fun time.

Miles average per gallon. Fill your gas tank, take a drive of about 100 miles on the highway. Then fill it up again. take the # of gallons you put in and divide it into 100 and the # you get will tell you how many miles per gallon you are getting.
Example; if it takes 5 gallons, you divide 5 into 100 which equals 20. You got 20 miles per gallon. Divide that into your total trip and that will tell you about how many gallons it will take to get you there and back.
