The Bible tells us that God told Noah to build an Arc. God gave Noah the exact measurements and types of building supplies he would need to accomplish this task. Then the bible records no other communication between God and Noah for 120 years until the Arc was finished.
This is how God is with us today. If He is silent, you need to think back to the last thing God asked you to do, and do it.
Usually we think that we are waiting for an answer from God, when in reality, God is waiting for us.
God Bless You....Peace.

God sometimes appears to be silent- but actually He is always working if not always in the way we would maybe want Him too, but in the way that would cause us to grow the most, and would be the best answer, because He knows us even better than we know ourselves and knows what is best. God always answers prayer- YES, NO, and WAIT. That waiting is the hardest. During the waiting just trust that He knows best and as you wait, continue to pray and you will one day hear His still small voice, I have been praying for something that I had to make a huge decision about for the past 2 months or so. For those months I just keep doing what I was doing and praying until last weekend the Lord spoke volumes to me, what I supposed to do. Why didn't He answer me right away? Probably because He wanted me to surrender every bit of my will before He gave His answer.

God has a plan and a time, like the right season for harvesting crops. God will answer when the time is right. You might also want to evaluate your prayers or be more specific. Are they more of a 'want" or a 'need' prayer. God knows what is best for us and will answer accordingly.
Ive known of a situation, when my friend was praying for an item for a long long time. She did not get it until she started praying more specific. And she was blessed with the item she wanted, right down to its colour!!
An answered prayer is as simple as your Father giving something you asked for to you. For example, lets say you want a bike. Your parents have agreed to buy it for you but now, want you to tell them the details. Which would you want? a red or blue frame? what size? any extra parts? So we should be very specific in our prayers then we would also really know that God has answered our prayers right down to the dot. Not just for material goods, but for any kind of prayers.
I wish you all the best! Do not give up, for maybe the right time has not come. Do not curse or complain against God too, for judgement will rain down upon you.

I listen to the song "Unanswered Prayers" by Garth Brooks. The chorus to the song is:
"Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers "

God hears all the prayers of the righteous. But consider the following:
A Christian hunter is hunting bears in the woods. While walking up a hill he grabs a branch for leverage and it breaks sending the hunter tumbling down the hill, gun flying off elsewhere. When the hunter dusts himself off he sees a huge bear charging him. The hunter begins running, but trips and falls, landing on his knees. Seizing the opportunity, and being a good Christian, the hunter begins to pray, "Lord, make this bear a Christian."
The woods are quiet, the hunter turns and, Hallelujah! He sees the bear on his knees, paws together, praying! Listening, he hears the bear praying, "Father, bless this food to my body."
The key message here is that God answers prayers of the righteous, but the answer you get may not be the answer you want, but it will always be the right answer. Prayer is a coming to God, telling Him your need (or the need of others), committing your way unto the Lord, and then leaving God to deal with the case as seems best to Him.
How should one pray to God?
I speak to God in the same manner as I write these words to you now. That is, I have a plain conversation (no “thou’s” “thine’s”, “thy’s”!) with Him each day, especially out under the stars late at night as my family sleeps. My prayers are conversations that follow a pattern. I start every prayer with the following: "Most merciful God, not my will, but yours, be done." I repeat that phrase often during my prayers. Sometimes I will do so for tens of times just to quiet my mind and make it open to hearing from my Creator.
Use the following pattern in all your prayers and you will see them answered: Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. See the links below for more information. (acronym: ACTS)

I wait.
There are no unanswered prayers. God answers all prayers. We just have to remember that He is not our genie, but rather our God, and He knows our hearts and our needs better than we do. When we pray, if we sincerely trust Him and are trying to do the right thing, God WILL see us through and will do what HE knows is in our best interests in the long run, even if we don't understand it at the time.
It's difficult to wait for God because His timing can often be so slow in comparison to our own. Still, I can think of many, many instances where I prayed for something, had to wait days, weeks or months, before I saw the answer to my prayer. Once I got my answer, it made perfect sense to me and I was glad I had to wait because I could see the blessing in how the prayer was answered.

Sometimes prayer is like breaking though a brick wall with a hammer. Sometimes it takes a few wackes to get a crack going...but the more the hit the closer it is that you get through. I don't think God is ignoring you...he may have other plans, or waiting for other events to come into play...just keep a praying...you'll get through that wall and get your answer eventually.

Ask yourself "Why is god silent" for apparently ignoring current atrocities to occur, violent storms that maim and kill people, and virulent diseases that plague us? Then, why does he help Cindy find her lost kitty, or Tommy to get over his tummy ache?
I'm the first to admit 'miracles' happen, but because they happen so infrequently and without much input to the recepient, I defer attributing it to a deity of any kind. The idea of 'god's will' seems to be caprious in execution at best.
If you have the capacity to imagine the immenseness of the universe, it's complexity and expanse, and imagine a god is responsible it its creation and execution, your future is foretold, and there's nothing you can do about it. God cannot be surprised, if you follow this line of philosophy.
So, you're the responsible party - not god. You make the decisions about your life and how you'll affect the world you come in contact with. Thank god for your food but don't forget you paid for it.

Oh boy! Excellent question.
I'm going through that right now. But, it seems that God is now cracking a window and I'm praising him for it.
Keep praying and asking, in one way or another God will answer. Just remember God answers prayers his way and not necessarily the way you want him too.

When I pray, regardless of what it is that I am praying about, I always ask God to do that which I pray for IF IT BE HIS WILL.
Everything serves the will of God.
"Thy will be done." These words in the Lord's prayer are imperative. So when you pray, pray for the will of God to be done, and you will never have to worry about His silence. If He does not answer your prayer, then it was not in His will to do that which you asked.
