The remote works fine, all DVR functions 100%, when the plasma is OFF. Please help, this issue defeats the purpose of having a dual tuner DVR. I'm afraid if I call Dish, they will say call Philips and vice versa.

I am fully aware of the sat/tv buttons, I've been using DISH products for 10 years and I am, not professional, but tech savvy. I am certain the remote is set to work correctly, which is does, but only when the plasma is off. I'm using a UHF remote, not IR in this case. I cannot move the TV, we have it mounted to the wall. The receiver really needs to stay in the same area, I can move it up or down slightly but that's all. I have adjusted the UHF antenna with no avail, and it doesn't appear to be damaged in any way (like I said it works while the plasma is off). I've tested the remote within 1-2 feet from the antenna with no luck. I've tried attaching the attenuator (Dish supplied) with the same negative result.

I assume you press "sat" first before you want to control the DVR? (or do you forget you are in "TV" mode?)

Does it work if you get closer to the DVR? If yes, then looks like your TV interfers with the IR. Maybe you can move the DVR to a bit further away.

first of all your tv 2 is not infered ir it is uhf that is how it gos through the walls. it could be that your not in sat mode , if you have another dual tunner reciver it could be that both tv2 uhf remots are on the same frquencey,I would check the remote antena on the back of the 522 reciver make sure its not damaged. other wise call dish they will help or send a tech out. I am a dish network tech. 3 1/12 years and it sounds like something very simple. but dont be afraide to have a tech come out if need be.

Plasma TV'S emit a fair amount of IR radiation that interferes with the IR signals from your remote control.
It sounds like your dvr is either located too close to your TV or its' IR pickup sensor may be receiving too much interference from the TV either directly or indirectly by reflections of the IR(light signals) from a nearby mirror, wall, cabinet doors etc..
While someone is repeatedly sending remote commands to your DVR,use a newspaper (at least 3 pages in thickness) and place it first in line between the TV and the DVR.
If the remote still does not function, leave that newspaper in place(tape it ) and use a second piece of newspaper to block reflections that may be coming from nearby objects that have straight areas such as walls and doors. Keeping in mind that IR signals are invisible to us, they are light signals nevertheless and behave the same way.
Use your imagination and I'm sure you'll resolve your problem.
Regards

solid Plasmas have extra suitable blacks and deeper hues yet are priced a splash extra suitable than liquid crystal demonstrate's. They mirror mild from the demonstrate if the television is watched in a lighted room. precise of the line liquid crystal demonstrate's from Sony's XBR line or the extra modern Samsung grant a image just about as solid as a results of fact the extra suitable Plasmas and lightweight in a room isn't a topic. in the adventure that your going with a demonstrate length 40 two inch or smaller, i could in all probability bypass with a liquid crystal demonstrate. Going with a huge demonstrate length of fifty inch or above i could heavily look on the liquid crystal demonstrate and the Plasma for an element with the aid of side comparisons. discover them the two on your budget, then do a assessment for the ideal overall photograph.
