The reason why people have to worship on the Sabbath day is because doing so is one of the 10 commandments. To be more percise, it's the fourth one.
"Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy."
The seventh day of the week is termed Shabbat and is holy, just as God ceased creative activity during Creation. The aspect of zachor is performed by declaring the greatness of the day, by having three festive meals, and by engaging in Torah study and pleasurable activities. The aspect of shamor is performed by abstaining from productive activity on the Shabbat.

People who worship on the Sabbath ,they know that after 6 days it took to create this world and all that is in it,the seventh day is meant to rest and honour the Creator. They don't have to do this ,they just like to do this in honour to the Creator
For people who don't believe this ,it is also a good idea for them to relax on the Sabbath and meet with friends,to be refreshed for the new week to cope with life

What people? Only the Jews and those who wants to belong to the Jews belief are the ones doing the rest on Sabbath day (Saturday). Actually it is a day of rest, you can sleep the whole time of observation but some prefers to do their chores of adorations to God. It is written on the Book and it is agredd to be followed by the Jews. Whether there is reason or not specially if you are not a Jew just shut up.

The Sabbath started last night at sunset. a Christian should worship of the Sabbath, and on the Lord's Day, and on every one of the weekdays. Paul made it clear: Jim
Romans 14:5
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Good question, if your a christian and believe what God and the bible say, then thats your answer: on the seventh day God rested, or another chapter he say's to observe the sabbath and do no work on that day. However, history has shown that man put the sabbath on Sunday, when it was actually on Saturday. In the end, it's up to you, what you and God agree on is what will work, not what everyone else says or does. good luck.

Worship of GOD should be everyday...but to those of us who have a bible and have read and understood that GOD would like to spend one day at least in communication with us, the Sabbaoth Day, which GOD created when it is written that GOD rested on the seventh day. THus the sabbath day is for some on what day of the week they consider the seventh day for specifically being with GOD in communication.

They misunderstand the scriptures...
Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the LAW WITH ALL ITS COMMANDS AND RULES. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.
Colossians 2:14 He wiped out the written Law with its rules. The Law was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross.
Galatians 2:16 ...No one can be made right with God by obeying the law.
Galatians 2:21 ...What if a person could become right with God by obeying the law? Then Christ died for nothing!
Romans 3:20 So it can’t be said that anyone will be made right with God by obeying the law. Not at all! The law makes us more aware of our sin. 21 But now God has shown us how to become right with him. The Law and the Prophets give witness to this. It has nothing to do with obeying the law.
Galatians 5:4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace... The ONLY verse that talks about falling from grace, and they did it by trying to follow the law!
Jesus said he didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. (Matt 5:17) The effect was the same. Once fulfilled it was no longer in effect. The very next verse, Matthew 5:18, looks forward to the time when the law would be set aside. "...Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the Law UNTIL EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED." This “UNTIL” clause reinforces the temporary nature of the law. It ONLY makes sense when we understand that it was intended from the beginning to be set aside.
On the cross, Jesus' last recorded saying, "It is finished," is an important milestone. Because of Jesus life, Satan had been defeated. The law was finished and would no longer stand between God and mankind.
The 10 commandments along with the rest of the law ("commands and rules" from Ephesians 2:15) were ALL "set aside" when they were fulfilled or completed at Jesus' resurrection. We are no longer bound by that law.

well people lead busy lives, and by devoted one day out of 7 to god, and prayer, it just makes sense (if you believe in sabbath obviously!) and because the bible-torah says so! you gotta keep the 7th day holy- ok so muslims and jews start on friday evening and christians on saturday night/sunday - the point is, they are praying to god and uniting as a community, thats the most important thing!!
