Any idea how many things look promising and don't pan out? For every useful modality there must be a thousand promising ones that get us excited. Medicine is a conservative business for a reason.

Not much is known about the activity of CD8+ CTL and natural killer cells, with the exception of their role in HepB liver pathology. At face value, this may be a great adjuvant to the HepB vax. Other than that, until more is known about the immunoresponse of CD8+ CTL in disease, and their role against various infectious agents, this may have to sit on the shelf.
