Time and again, over and over and over again, I either read or hear from people that Islam calls for the murder of "infidels," or all those who are not Muslim. This perception is so pervasive, so entrenched, and I really do not know from where it comes. Yes, there are Muslims who do believe this: 19 of them crashed three planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon, killing nearly 3,000 of my innocent American brothers and sisters. But, I don't know from where they got this idea. "It is the Qur'an, you idiot!!!" I am quite sure some of you just screamed that to your computer screen. Really? Where? I do not know of one verse which directs the believers to kill all "infidels." Yet, I am constantly reminded of the contrary, such as this verse:

Keep doing this. I am an American and i oppose Bush and the war in Iraq. When i talk to other Americans they tell me the Muslims are all terrorists. I always say that this is impossible because if 1.5 billion Muslims were all terrorists we would all be dead. But then the Americans say that if i am right , where are the Muslims condemning terrorism. We are in an international forum here. We can speak to each other and debunk all of the hateful propaganda that fuels these senseless conflicts. Peace be with you

It is an interesting site. I have a copy of the Qur'an, but have not yet had a chance to read it. I have heard from many sources that Islam is NOT an aggresive religion, but as with the Bible, it is all in the interpretation of the scriptures. Anyone can find verses to confirm their biases.
If anyone is really interested in understanding Islam, then do some research, read the Qur'an, then you will know what you are talking about.

If you don't know where the Qur'an directs Muslims to SLAY NONBELIEVERS WHERE EVER THEY ARE, BUT IF THEY CONVERT, TREAT THEM AS BROTHERS (my paraphrase) then you know nothing about the Qur'an.

Those who blew up the world trade centers had some mental problems and don't represent Islam. Thanks for pointing out the nice article, it explained it well.

Islam was spread by the evil Caliphs who were inspired by the most boisterous Muhammad. Do you know how? By murder.
