No, it's not wrong considering the alternatives: You get so burned out that you can't focus on the important stuff, or you allow your kids to find something far more dangerous than corn dogs to occupy themselves. There's no harm, no foul here. We ALL need personal time every day to maintain sanity! I have a 6 month-old baby, and I cherish my 20-minute bubble bath every night when my husband is responsible for the little one. When you deny yourself time to collect your thoughts and detox, it inevitably catches up with you and you end up doing/saying things that are out of character for you. I'd rather pay for a box of corndogs now than a therapist later on! :)

I think that is fine. Here are some other ideas:
-Get them to make lunch (peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are easy just make sure the stuff is set out for them)
-Another idea for a little peace and quiet is challenge them to read to you.
-Play hide and seek and give them about 3 - 4 minutes to hide. Its not much time, but better then nothing.
-Those Pillsbury dough boy cookies are ok for older kids.
-Start up a game of slap jack (kids will have fun with that for ages)
Havee fun!!

Nothing wrong with corn dogs! Adults don't eat perfectly healthy all the time and kids don't want to either! Of course it is good to encourage good eating habits, but don't beat yourself up over corn dogs and ff once in a while!

It depends on how often you are doing this. Eating twelve hot dogs a month or more has been connected to higher instances of leukemia. This is no small issue. Not to mention the problem of childhood obesity. Maybe you could find a healthier food they would enjoy making, or maybe juicing or milkshakes with real fruit.

Sometimes parents have tyo do crazy things just to get a few minutes of regroup time. I say it is fine among many of the other things they "could" have been doing! I hope you get more relaxing time for you!!
