so i was flipping through the channels a while back, and i caught caught kirk cameron on the tbn network. he was talking about how to convert atheist. what a jack@$$!!! anyway he made the claim that there is no such thing as an atheist because none of us can prove that god doesn't exist. in stead, those of us who claim to be atheists are in fact agnostics. bigger jack@$$. this question then is for those who believe this statement. if this is true, does that not mean everyone who believes in a god or gods is also an agnostic since you can't prove he or they exist? by this logic, isn't every one of us an agnostic?

kirk cameron is this washed up actor who saw the end of his being a teen idol on the sitcom "growing pains" so he decided to become a born again christian to hold onto his "star" status.
he played michael seaver. does that ring a bell?

kirk cameron is a self proclaimed born again christian. on the idea of him wanting to still be a star by becoming a christian, he knew his name alone would get him a show on tbn. something he had a big problem doing when he was almost done with growing pains was realizing he was not that big of a deal in hollywood.

Who is Kirk Cameron?

Kirk Cameron did not become a born again christian to regain a star status. He has all ways been a christian. He left the so called Hollywood scene because he didn't like the life.He felt he could do more good by professing his faith and trying to lead people to Christ. He felt that was his calling.

LOL... well, I've pretty much always considered him a jack@$$, but I tend to agree with you. No one knows for sure. So ol' Kirk is also an agnostic, but unable to admit it.

Edit: actually, his born-again Christian status came BEFORE the end of the sitcom and really wrought havoc on it... he wouldn't play the character in ways that didn't conform to his belief structure and it was a real problem in production of the show.

When I flip through the channels, I don't stop at something that doesn't interest me. It seems that either you do that, or else, you had some reason to be interested in Kirk Cameron's opinion.
I think most atheists are basically just suffering from low self-image...at least, the ones in this forum, anyhow. I mean, why bother to post ridiculous questions in a religious forum, when you claim that you don't believe in any god? It makes no sense to me.
But then, I suppose, if that's what you wanna do, hey, why should I try to stop you? For all I know, you just might pick up something here that might get you to wondering...might, maybe, hopefully, lead you, one sunny day, to God......

Websters defines gnostic:
1 : a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god
2 : a person unwilling to commit to an opinion about something

People need to be careful what they're putting across when they decide to represent any group! I do think the banana thing is pretty goofy and non-conclusive, but nowhere near as damaging as people who call themselves Christians, but then act hateful or judgmental of others and make them think we're all raving lunatics and hypocrites! I don't think those guys did any more damage to the perception of Christianity, though, just to their own careers and credibility.

Stupid televangelists (as an Englishman, mercifully we don't have to bear too much of that rubbish; suffice it to say that they resemble British comedians minus the punchline): although it could be said that some (but by no means all) atheists treat science in a quasi-divine way.

Hey, I think you are arguing because you have deep-seeded hostility towards Mike Seaver (Growing Pains). Believe me I know. I have the same hostile feelings against Greg Brady.

How does becoming a born again Christian allow him to "hold on to being a star"?

I'm sure Kirk Cameron will be happy to know that atheists don't believe in him, either.
