I think there is wisdom in either approach to life, as well as pitfalls. Most of the problems between them are misunderstandings due to different kinds of language they use. One is devoted to a particular, conscious entity, the other has an abstract conceptual loyalty to humanity. Each "saves" and "wastes" time and effort in different ways.

I also think that behavior is far more important than specific beliefs. I'll take a humble, altruistic atheist over an arrogant, oppressive theist any day. Repentance, reform or psychological improvement are worthy interior goals, something to be promoted and modelled, but not to be imposed on others. There is more than one valid way to view the world. Anger should be directed against social injustice, not doctrinal disagreements. And any violation of the Golden Rule impeaches anyone's moral authority.

I also try to speak to each in their own idiom. It's not that hard to do.

I don't have much of a problem with them. I am an Agnostic Atheist/Weak/Negative Atheist and at times an Ignostic, and Apatheist as well as a Freethinker and a Humanist.

I'm an atheist, but I think both sides can get really crazy.
There are some great minds on the entire spectrum, though.
