a= without gnosis= knowledge Agnostics, knowing nothing, have no opinions, and express their ignorance with great eloquence. They are entitled to their feelings and opinions, just like I am and you are.

I'm not an atheist but you should listen to Richard Dawkins, who is the most passionate, avid, atheist I've ever encountered:
He says he has more respect for the pious God worshippers than for "fence-straddling" agnostics.
He certainly isn't stupid, but it's ridiculous to dislike the doubters, who IMHO are the sensible ones.
After all, how can we confidently confirm or deny God's existence? It's ridiculous to take a firm stand on either side.
Live your life fairly and do good.
Die, and your efforts will be rewarded. Or if there is no God you will feel nothing, so you won't care. It's win/win.

Honest. I think it's probably harder to be an agnostic in the true sense of the word than to be either atheist or theist or deist for that matter. It means you admit that there isn't enough evidence to prove the existence of god and that you can't prove non-existence.
I'm an atheist because I think the weight of the evidence does not support the existence of a supernatural deity, but I admire agnosticism for its skepticism.

I consider myself to be moderately agnostic, although I generally identify myself as a theist and identify WITH the atheists. The fact is, despite the fact that I BELIEVE in a God, I don't KNOW that there is one.
edit: wow... icarus just convinced me that I AM an agnostic. Cool. :-)

I don't have much of a problem with them. I am an Agnostic Atheist/Weak/Negative Atheist and at times an Ignostic, and Apatheist as well as a Freethinker and a Humanist.

I am a Christian and have respect for agnostics. Atheists often complain about the illogic of theism, but I feel by closing their mind to the possibilities - it taints and clouds their ability to push for the answers that transcend existence.

The term 'agnostic' was coined by Thomas Huxley and it refers quite simply to a person who holds the view that it is wrong to assert the truth of a proposition without logically satisfactory evidence.
So, an agnostic would say that it's wrong to say "God exists" or "No gods exist" without the argument or evidence to back it up. Moreover, the agnostic would say that it's immoral for a person to tell someone else that they *ought* to believe in the existence of a god or gods without providing logically satisfactory evidence. I don't think anyone could reasonably argue against that principle.

They possess a similar belief in an imaginary 'invisible man', as do the religious, though they realize that organized religion is a farce.
They still have the delusion of a 'creator', yet they are headed in the right direction.
