Judaism is the ancient form of Christianity. Judaism is very similar if not exact to most Jewish cultures.

Christianity believes that Jesus was not only the Messiah, but that as the son of god, he brought salvation to the world through his death and resurrection. Christiaity largely dismisses the Old Testament as scripture and rather use the New Testament (although the NT didn't exist during that time and for Jews, the Torah was Scripture).

Judaism, on the other hand, teaches that the Messiah has not yet come as the prophesies fortelling of his arrival have not yet been fulfilled. Jews use the Torah, Writings, and Prophets in their readings rather than the Bible and do not believe that Jesus came to offer salvation but rather separation among the chosen people of god.

Granted, that's the "lay-person's" version, but it's all I've got right now, lol!

Peace,

Beki

A very valid question, Evelyn:

They have the same God and Bible, in fact, I have read the English version of the Holy Scriptures--it is a wonderful translation of the Old Testament.

What is the difference, then? Well, the Jews looked at all the prophecies of the Messianic reign on earth and are waiting for His arrival. They overlooked the predictions of His suffering and death, and did not recognize their Messiah--you know the rest, He was killed as a false prophet, also predicted in the Bible.

We are in the same boat today, so confused on the manner of the Messiah's coming. All major religions explain away the predictions of earth's complete destruction and they expect a thousand years of peace. What a delusion!

Satan must come first, before Jesus, so the doctrines of Christianity (and Islam) all are setting up the inhabitants of Earth to receive Satan when he impersonates God.

Yes, like 2,000 years ago, God's true followers will be ostracized. God knew this, and that is why He sealed one part of the Bible, in the only part that tells you it is impossible to understand until the end--find the truth at www.revelado.org/revealed.htm

The essential difference between Jews and Christians is that Christians accept Jesus as messiah and personal savior. Jesus is not part of Jewish theology. Amongst Jews Jesus is not considered a divine being. Therefore all holidays which have a connection to the life of Jesus are not part of Jewish life and/or practice (Christmas, Easter, Lent, Advent, Palm Sunday, etc.).

Judaism originates as a result of the covenantal relationship between God and Abraham. The Bible (Hebrew Bible which doesn't include New Testament for reasons stated previously) is our sacred literature. The relationship between the Jewish people and God is documented in the text. In Bible the history, culture, language, theology, and practices of the Jewish people are presented.

Judaism is based on the Old Testament, Christianity on both Old and New Testaments. The Jews are still waiting for the Messiah.

Christianity came from Judaism. It's in the bible. Judiasm is the belief that the Messiah is yet to come(in a nutshell, all the laws won't fit in this little box) and Christianity is the belief that Christ Jesus is the Messiah and the only way to Jesus.

Judaism is the result of what happened to the ancient religion of Israel after they failed to recognize that Jesus was their Messiah. In a sense, Judaism and Christianity are essentially the same religion. Christianity is the result of Jews who recognized Christ as their long-awaited Messiah. Those who didn't recognize him as such developed what we know today as Judaism.

Judaism is the background of Christianity. Jews are looking for Messiah, where the Christians (who were Jews) have found Him, Jesus.

Messianic Judaism believes Isaiah that the Messiah will be Jesus and to come as God.

Isaiah 9:6 predicted "Unto us will be born a child, a Son will be given and he will be almighty God and the prince of peace."

others that were Jewish changed their religion to reject the Jewish Messiah although they still called it Judaism its not.

Christianity means followers of the Messiah-be they Jewish as all the first believers are or gentiles who come to the light of israel to the gentiles Isaiah 42 verse 1

as a Jew Messiah Jesus is my savior and best friend

so what do u think is the difference ?

Judaism is exclusively for Jews and proselites who meet the conditions to become Jewish converts. Christianity is for any and all nationalities. At the center of the Christian faith is the Bible verse, John 3:16, which says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The word Christian means Christlike. Christ is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Title Messiah. The Jews believe that someday their Messiah will come and set up his kingdom and there will be peace throughout the earth.

Christians believe the Jewish Messiah has already come in the form of the historical Jesus of Nazareth, that He was Crucified and suffered the punishment for the sins of all mankind, and that He rose from the dead by His own power as the Son of the Almighty God.

Some Jews believe in life after death. All Christians believe that, by believing in Christ's death burial and resurection, any person can ask and receive forgiveness from his sins and be awarded everlasting life.

The authority for this belief comes from the Bible book of Romans, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 (KJV), and, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)
