You really think your particular version a god is so weak that he/she needs defending?

Most of the gods I read about, have the power to smite people, really. If they were really offended, don't you think they would act on it?

Come on, as a believer, give your gods a little credit please. I, as an atheist, find it blasphemy if you don't take your own god serious.

I don't get upset. I figure my Gods are "tough enough", they don't really need me getting all riled up on their behalf. Do you think Thor would need me to defend him? I think not. Besides, all my Gods have a sense of humor.

Well I guess, then I must be one of the few 'believers' that you think actually does take my Gods serious then? (Yes, I'm asking a question.) I agree with you, I would see it as being very disrespectful and bordering on blasphemy to think that the Gods are so weak that they need us humans to defend them all the time.

the power of the belief in God is special it is a show of love to him/her
You do the same for the father or mother thus I believe God is my father and he is the father of all mankind ..No mater what way in life you take you will have your judgment .
Your last comment by the way says you know there is God you just admit the blasphemy of the deed so think are You not defending the defense

The issue isn't that our God can't defend Himself, but that in mocking God, you mock and make light of our beliefs. Something that many people take very seriously. With our beliefs comes an awe and respect for God not something to be made fun of lightly. Belief in God is a very deep and personal experience. Nobody wants those feelings to be mocked.

I take my God very serious. It hurts when people mock God. I know God does not need any of our help in defending him....It is our previledge to defend him.

The reason God has not "smitten" anyone is because he does not wish for anyone to be lost to him. God keeps on letting the evil go on in hopes that the lost will come to him and be his.

They are afraid of what God will do to you for mocking. The Bible teaches you will answer for every word you speak. You are right about one thing. God does not need defending. You need defending or the person who mocks God needs defending and we ask God to forgive you or them.

Isn't it funny? If they were so secure in their belief you would think they could handle a little mocking. Seems to me that some may be having a crisis of faith....interesting....I mean after all we mockers are the ones that have to deal with the consequences should there actually be a *god*....not that there is one....lol!

What kind of god would smite people for mocking him anyway.

That would make god some kind of petty dictator, like Caligula or Mussolini. You don't DARE mock them on pain of death. The really good leaders, Roosevelt, Churchill, Gandhi, don't mind a little criticism. They even welcome it.

I wish God would be more like Gandhi :(

I guess you don't understand the concept of "offensive". When something that is held close, such as a religion...family member...etc...is maliciously attacked, there is usually a response to the offensive nature of said attack.

It shouldn't take a highly educated person to analyze what you are pondering.

Apparently God is too weak to defend himself, so Christians have to defend him.

Why do you care?

The more important thing for you to think about is "why mock God?"

What exactly do you gain?

Personally, I think that all you're doing is exposing an immaturity that you can't overcome. Christians aren't hurt, you are.
